I would rather deal with war decs in high sec than 0 effort, anti-social ganking which has no real counter-play. I just returned to EVE after a 4 year break and within the 1st week I’m ready to quit again. There’s less high-sec corps than ever and more gankers running around than ever. I don’t want to deal with the time and effort it takes to move out to null and if I try doing anything productive in high-sec I’m basically just painting a target on my back.
Even if I hold a ton of nostalgia for EVE, it ain’t the early-mid 2000s anymore. Other space games (that don’t charge $20/month) exist.
There are actually more hi sec corps as they are no longer being war dec’ed into oblivion. There is also a lot of counter play to ganking, which occurs prior to the actual gank, a large part of that is getting away from population centers.
There is plenty of counter play. Aren’t you a veteran player? Have you even tried to counter ganking? All you have to do is survive for a few seconds. You can’t do that?
A more appropriate kind of counter-play would be disabling the ability to buy standing, restricting docking in higher security systems for people with negative standing, and forcing gankers to actually base up in some low sec system, actually put some thought into their logistics and fits before performing raids into high-sec.
If gankers are permanently -5.0, as they should be, then players have an opportunity to setup gate camps at known ganker entry points in high-sec systems. Or create hunting parties to try intercepting an active ganker fleet.
But I’m sure my argument will fall on deaf ears as many others have before, because the reality is that high sec gankers were never particularly interested in actual PvP where anyone is afforded an opportunity to fight back. The only difference between an F1 mining carebear and an F1 cata ganker is that the mining player’s fun doesn’t come at someone else’s expense.
There is already a nerf to ganking since the legion release. You have to wait for next year. Nerfs to ganking happen on yearly basis. It is too early for complains.
BS… all they had to do was jump to another corp or NPC corp. Newbs and anyone else had an easy way out and those that did the wardec were out the isk, and more if they tried to trail them into another corp. Simple solution of hide the infrastructure shell game.
Uh, guess what, Players new to the game simply didn’t enjoy to leave their corp every second week and hide in an NPC Corp instead of trying to create something togeher with their friends online. Just because some griefers had nothing better to do than simply wardec newbies over and over again to easily farm kills against players who hadn’t even the slightest chance to fight back. And thus they left the game and played something else. Bad for CCP, since they wanted to make some money with their product. Wise decision to end this crap, as the player retention numbers surely proved, else they would probably have reverted the change by now.
The use of the word suicide is no longer accepted. The use of the word suicide is an immediate turnoff off for prospective new players and does actually affect CCP’s marketing.
