Wrong. I chose to not respond to your arguments, which I think are not relevant to the question the OP asked - although it is still in doubt what was actually meant. I have my reasons for it, one of which is that you will do exactly what you accuse other people of doing. No use spending time or energy to feed someone’s agenda.
lol…
LOL!
You are playing the wrong game.
Feel free to move on. I hear Animal Crossing is all the rage on Twitch…
I largely agree with almost every word you have said. Thanks for bringing the topic back on track buddy.
- This discussion has reached the end of its lifetime, but yes, many posts have addressed this: trying to ban people who curse isn’t a very good idea. I suggest you read on the “Third person effect”, which may be what is happening to you.
- Yes, everybody just starts insulting people who dislike their opinions, or someone who’s opinions they dislike. We should just ignore these posts, as posters or simply as readers, or try to scalp some useful information off it.
- Your OP is too broad, which caused the derailing. You should have edited it to suit your needs.
- Some people are going straight to “you are building an authoritarian regime” simply because you suggests something that tries to censor. That’s like saying “you breath and hitler breathes, you are hitler”. While I do disagree with censorship, always and altogether (not adding this as a politically correct statement but adding it as something I have wrote a 2000 word IR on), and yes, change your opinion, but ranting that doesn’t solve many problems.
- Individually, people who have emotional problems want to solve them by facing them. People acting all “shh don’t mention that word” all around them will harm them even more. People should be normal around them and stop treating them differently! OOH political correctness! If you work to attack those who mean you or others harm, and show them people care about them, that is the best, and the most, you can do.
That is quite a good point.
thanks I knew it would happen and the haters would come but there’s been some more thoughtful posts recently, so I’m hopeful this will help to keep the debate alive.
erm… i thiiiink i agree with what you’re saying…? You put it in a more aggressive way than I would have, but I think I basically agree with your point.
yeah maybe was too verbose. I’m not very experienced in taking part in online forums. I like philosophy so maybe I could have got to the point a bit quicker. But the issue is quite important so I wanted to fully explain where I was coming from. I think people that are willing to engage in an open an honest way will hear what I’m trying to say and respond more directly to my points, whether they agree or not. But jeez, man, if you can’t sit and write an excessively long post on a forum for eve online with a glass of wine in hand then where the hell can you?! lol
Thanks for the thoughts
man if you were a purple eater in real life you would be a mass murderer, lol. I have no problem with in game salt and raging and swearing, but it doesn’t need to spill over into attacking people for who they are as a person in the real world. I think you understand that, just saying for the thread.
When you talk about international organizations, I’m interested by that, because there are a hell of a lot of people here who have talked about reporting to CCP, or taking it up with authorities and that is totally not where I was trying to go with the conversation. But I’m interested as to why so many people have gone down that line of argument. Was there a huge controversy that I’m not aware of before? A lot of people have talked about CCP’s code of conduct, so it sounds like there’s a juicy story there…
and screw the big blue donut, anything that can cause disruption and chaos in game I’m all for.
Nah I’m not talking about a specific thing that happened. If you check my corp’s info and my zkillboard (helpfully posted already by some twonk who thinks they are attacking me by doing that) you’ll see I’m not a CEO, I’m just another shitty toon that can’t play the game but loves it anyway. I am interested in taking up more of a leadership role in future though, and so I’m looking to discuss how these issues are dealt with by others in game. I wasn’t looking for a fight, although I know full well that there would be lots of comments pulling the thread this way and that.
some people don’t have the capacity to speak with civility, but it’s an online forum so it’s to be expected. That’s fine. I can filter through and find the points that are worth responding to. wadiest is interesting coz he’s saying some stuff that I feel is worth discussing, but if he said it the way he’s saying it here to me in person I’d probably have knocked him out by now! (yeah ok, bring on the trolls to jump on my “aggressive speech” and tear down every other point I’ve made because of it. It’s funny when people speak aggressively, and then jump on any kind of inconsistency in your tone…bring it on ffffuuckers)
I’m just finding it funny now.
context moron
Thats a nice emoji. Can you be more verbose?
context moron
I thought you didn’t like bad words, also, it was funny. It brings up a very good point of
- You discussing it makes people feel uncomfortable
- Even saying it in context makes people uncomfortable
- So, sometimes people don’t really mean to be offensive
ok I think you are willfully misrepresenting my points now. if you don’t understand the concept of context when using potentially offensive language then I can’t help you.
I also refer you to my other comment:
“It’s funny when people speak aggressively, and then jump on any kind of inconsistency in your tone…bring it on ffffuuckers)”
I’m entitled to change my tone after nearly a full day of drivel.
Yeah I know. But sometimes context can hurt too. That’s sort of a point. I’m not trying to misrepresent your point though, but really, you can’t say “sorry, I know mentioning that will hurt you but still… I used it in context!”
i edited that last comment just as you posted, just to keep you fully informed with the chronology of comments.
wadiest is interesting coz he’s saying some stuff that I feel is worth discussing, but if he said it the way he’s saying it here to me in person I’d probably have knocked him out by now!
Interesting, and here I was thinking i replied with all the courtesy and patience due.
By the way, this third person discussion the pair of you seem to enjoy would probably be more than enough to kick the pair of you out of my corp for disruption and lack of respect. And that is the blunt truth.
