Taxes

I got 500,000 in reward for daily goal but the game took out 55,000 in taxes o.O
Why not have the taxes taken out before the reward is given??

How can it be that a game has taxes on rewards?? What kind of game is this? Sadistic or kick you?

Please discuss this ridiculous thing… or don’t?

TaxRate 11%

@Uriel_the_Flame what are your links supposed to tell me? That there are taxes in this game? As if I didn’t know that there are taxes in this game?
Taxes is the name of the thread, DUH

They tell you that because you are in an NPC corp you pay 11% corp tax.

So you don’t understand the thread. Ok

You ask: How can it be that a game has taxes on rewards??

By simple deduction you could see that the tax is there to incentivize you to join a player corp where usually the corp tax is lower.

If you don’t like taxes ( ISK sink ) stay away from my favorite game Black Desert. The market charges you a 35% tax rate on items you sold. If you buy the monthly Value Pack ( $15 subscription ) you can pay only 15% tax rate. Also as a side note, it is the game’s 10th anniversary and they are having a 100% off sale on the basic accounts. That is a $10 account for free while it lasts. Otherwise Black Desert is a buy to play game.

Have fun!

It doesn’t say anything like that, it just takes isk out of your wallet, that’s all it does.

The tax entry should tell you what is the deduction as it should be (the last time I checked) a separate entry. Something like NPC corp tax on bounty or something similar. The rest you can conclude with a bit of thinking and maybe checking your corp info in your show info panel in-game.

This is why I’ve linked those details through out of game means so you don’t have to sign-in to check them.

@Princess_Rose_Ivory What is Black Desert?
This is EVE we’re talking about, why are you talking about another game?? Are you lost? This forum is for EVE, not Black Desert.

@Uriel_the_Flame It still doesn’t make sense.

Why not have the taxes taken out before the reward is given??

I am saying it is a sink, ALL game use sinks for balance. Pearl Abyss own BD and they own CCP so they own this game too. Welcome to the clubhouse!

Have fun!

It doesn’t make sense. If they’re going to take game currency then why give it in the first place?

You have to ask CCP directly to get the answer.

We can however speculate that:

  1. Convenience of having a separate entry so you can see exactly how much bounty and such you’ve earned and as a separate entry you can see how much were deducted from those. Easier to keep things tracked that way to clearly see the exact values of each separately instead of being combined into one.
  2. Probably it is a technical thing too that the system that pays out pays out the full amount and as a separate action the system then takes a cut based on corp (and depending on other factors like trade and such other) tax rates.

Indeed it is a simple game balance thing and probably most if not all games have such.

Ok, I can understand that.

So when the game says “500,000 reward” then it’s a lie. I don’t get 500,000 rewards, I get 445,000 isk, not 500,000.
I wonder why they have to lie about it.

You can’t avoid ALL the taxes ( sinks ) in Eve Online, but you can make your own private corp as I did here. See the LP and ISK tax is set to 0%. Get away from the NPC corp they automatically place you into at the start of the game.

You will need the skill to create a corp of your own or join one offering no tax.

Have fun!

I understand that there are some workarounds, all I’m saying is: it’s stupid.
Why not say that reward is 450,000 isk instead of laying about it?

Not really, first you receive the pay then you pay your tax but it happens almost immediately. I don’t recall though if the wallet pop up shows the full or reduced income but either way the wallet journal should show the two items separately AFAIK.

@Uriel_the_Flame I understand what you are saying and I appreciate your input, same for you @Princess_Rose_Ivory

This is my first online game.
So the online games are like real life then? Lies, scams, extortions and rackets?

Worse. In real life they don’t really hide it. Online, they hide it behind the word game.
Don’t be fooled, this no game.
