Most games don’t allow those so EVE is one of the few ones that allow such. This is intended gameplay by the developers. Everyone can freely decide if they want to play as good guys or bad ones and anything in-between.
Why don’t they mention that in the ads?
Advertisements are lies in and of themselves.
You have a point there I have to admit.
That’s a good question and I and others bring this up every now and then when such and similar subjects arise. If they better managed expectations players would better understand what EVE actually is and could make more informed decisions whether they want to play it or not.
Just a guess but maybe they don’t so more people try the game as otherwise they wouldn’t.
Back in the days it was advertised much differently:
Though the related support articles (sometimes) clearly state that such playstyles are allowed and to what extent:
It’s sad when game companies have to hide certain facts from their games to the public.
When people feel cheated, they leave.
True. Unfortunately (aside of mentioning this here and there) there’s nothing we can really do about it. I assume they still find it financially more viable to operate this way than another.
Probably their thinking may be that those who leave still wouldn’t even try, but maybe a few still stays and more people give EVE a try this way so in the end the bottom line still benefits.
@Uriel_the_Flame Well I like the game so far so I’m going to go further into it, no need to pull a wool over my eyes but now that I know that it isn’t different from the real world and maybe even worse I will be more cautious than believing whatever is on the screen.
Never believe anything you hear or read until you’ve check it 100%. This whole world works on lies and deception.
@Thork_DeLaroche I didn’t think it was so prevalent.
@Lionalia_Amarria It’s usually worse than you think. Beware.
That seems kind of paranoid.
I mean it must get tiring to always be on the lookout.
@Lionalia_Amarria Paranoia has saved me from many difficult situations and has saved my life many times. It’s been a good companion.
Thank you for your replies @Uriel_the_Flame @Princess_Rose_Ivory
…and @Thork_DeLaroche
@Lionalia_Amarria You’re welcome. If you need any help, contact me in game.
Clarity.
It’s better to see which taxes are applied than to hide the tax and the tax rate.
In this case the game does not hide taxes. Why do you want the game to hide taxes instead of making it clear in your wallet history that a portion of it is taxed on behalf of your corporation?
Why do you quote something and answer out of context?
What she was saying about hiding things had nothing to do with taxes but this:
Hey @Lionalia_Amarria welcome to New Eden. For years the devs and designers of old believed that some parts of the game were meant to be found by players and not revealed by devs (not counting taxes). So as you further play, you may find yourself asking, why didnt this get mentioned?
Past few years though some information has found its way into the game, like showing info on a rat will show you its resists.
For a game that is 20 yrs old there will be a lot of outside the game information.
As @Uriel_the_Flame mentioned, leave the npc corp asap so you can pay less taxes. Figure out what you like to do in game, and use the recruitment section here to find a corp if you want a group, or if you wanna be solo for a while, there are some corps that will let you park and have free taxes (i have one of these)
