Team Security 2026 Bans

New email addresss takes 5 seconds. New payment takes about the same to generate new virtual card number.

Falsifying personal information is a crime in most countries though.

What are you talking about? Where did I mention giving false information? You realize free emails are literally everywhere and most credit card providers allow you to use virtual cards that you generate on your account site to obfuscate your actual info to prevent it from getting stolen?

VPN, virtual machines, anonymous email, and throwaway anonymous credit cards that you can get at any Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, or Barnes and Noble on the planet. There is no way to stop it…

I was referring to payment not emails. Had you said gift cards, prepaid cards or whatever I would not have replied with that. I was unaware of virtual cards existing.

All that FC can do is make it as annoying as possible to continue trying to cheat. The faster that FC catches them, the more often they have to make all new accounts, all new emails, all new payment source, etc… until it finally gets to the point where they are having to make new accounts every single day then maybe it will stop…

They are fairly new, maybe last 5 years. I do however remember making actual virtual ( i.e. fake ) cards when I was younger via “credit card generators” to use on nudey sites as “verification” to gain access. lol

Name and shame.

More important, you’d need a new PC every time, if they trace people with Hardware Fingerprinting. A software installed on a PC can read out thousands of serial-numbers, vendor-IDs, firmware-IDs and whatnot. And you’d never know which one they use to track you. From obvious devices like Harddrive/SSD down to Version numbers of Fan-Controllers on the Mainboard. You can never spoof all that in a way unless you know exactly which ones they use to identify you. And even then, they can change that with every patch.

Neither a new email nor a new payment method nor a VPN or a Virtual Machine can protect you from that, because a program running can easily detect if it runs on a legit system or within a virtual environment (simply because many hardware-requests return either no value, empty strings, strings that don’t match manufacturers schemes, are blocked or return default values). So a clever software programmer can simply deny server connection if a VM is detected.

All that “they can’t do anything!!!” is nonsense from people who simply don’t have any insight on how computer system work. VPN/VM shenanigans is wannabe kiddy h4x0r crap that can’t stop any serious program from 100% reliably identifying your computer, granted you gave it administrator- and/or kernel access by installing it.

It’s pretty easy to make your VM identify as a fresh VM, and CCP don’t blanket ban them.

If you want decent performance playing in a VM you’ll need to pass-through a GPU, but it’s relatively easy to spoof identifiers on this single component.

For what it’s worth it’s extremely unlikely CCP uses hardware fingerprinting, given all the known serial botters and RMTers who are still active on fresh accounts even after multiple bans.

Yet the status quo has remained for over 20 years. If they could actually do something about it, they would have by now. So no, they obviously can’t…

Long story short, if they haven’t implemented hardware-level bans after 20+ years, they aren’t going to. Ever.

Thats a decision. Not a “they can’t do it”. If they wanted, they could easily ban VM use of the client. That they probably don’t want to go that far is another thing.

Hardware Id Spoofers are a thing. Why do you think MAC bans haven’t worked in decades? A spoofer can change the hardware ID of every piece of tech in your pc in minutes. Maybe you need to take a refresher on that 20 year old IT class you took one summer.

Spoofing only works if you know which ID or combination of IDs they check. And since your system has literally thousands of points to track, your chances to correctly guess and spoof the ones they track are close to zero.

Better spoof them all then.

They could always get rid of Alphas… Or limit them to 10 days… Or add a host of new restrictions.

While that would be nice, there’s no way they can do that at this point. The cat has already been let out of the proverbial bag. Removing Alphas would alienate too many players, even veterans. I myself have somewhere between 40 to 50 Alpha accounts that I use for various purposes.

Thanks for confirming you know absolute zero of what you’re talking about. You don’t have to know which one they track when one little tool can spoof them all with a click. Again, that IT class you took 20 years ago is outdated. Go take your Geritol.

40-50…? Do I even want to know what you use these all for?!
