Technical question: How is a "Server BUG" being determined in practice?

HI All.
Eve guidelines for reimbursement policies are very strict.

How is a “Server BUG” being determined in practicality?
I mean, what kind of actions must be taken to approach
an analysis to determine if there was a “Server bug” or
it was a “performance degradation”, a “negative peak” on
some sort of metric, or some virtualized spaces are run through a compiler
every 24/h to see if some bi-lateral changes or adjustments break the code,
or is player feedback sometime more important in finding bugs,
and assess them as bugs just by replication, but then a programmer needs
to get into it and actually “optimize” the code so the bug disappear?
Does he run the whole section in a decompiler first if it was edited multiple times?

Can looking into the server logs help determine the cause of a bug or even to find a bug
and if yes, based on what metrics is a bug defined??

Ty.

It is possible you just made a mistake?

Whatever. I asked a simple question. Now the whole thing just sailed the fourteen winds…
If they have nothing to hide, they will answer, otherwise, someone else will take that extra step that will require Fenrir to answer.

They won’t respond to litigation.

You will have to hire an attorney to represent your interests.

Oh, they are all payed by our taxes, I don’t have to worry about that part.
Despite I have an annual subscription to a couple of these organization so whatever
“extra” usually come very cheap and heavily discounted.

Do you think your state appointed attorney has experience with Jita?

Is this still about the thing where you put up a buy order for 5000 rocket launchers or is this about a completely different “server bug”?

He’s planning to sue the Caldari Navy.

He will need someone well versed in admiralty law.

I don’t think just any attorney will be able to handle that. He should do it pro se.

I would offer to help, but if he can’t afford a few rocket launchers he certainly can’t afford me. That’s why he has a state appointed attorney.

That was my fault probably, I didn’t open a ticket for that in any case.

Oh, so this is a second case?

What happened??

Aiko, If I lose, all my belongings will go 50% to you, and 50% to another pilot.
If Iose this battle, I will quit.

Very good!

It’s about the guidelines, where server bug is defined as a factor valid for request a refund, whilst CLIENT or ISP side LAG, will shield Eve from any refund.
I lowered all my graphical settings to basics.
I sometime can experience some lag in Jita, but it rarely ends with my death.
I can lose all of my wallet in a single 5mn mutaplasmid buy order mistake,
but Eve has not enforced a cap on your wallet setting, and is not required to.
There’s nothing I can do about it.
If Jita would bug out, and start buying random stuff, emptying people wallets, I believe
there could be an investigation. But that hasn’t happened yet.

Abyssal deadspace tho, a SOLO environment, should not feel completely unplayable.
If it does, and that lead to your eventual death with loss of clone, then the difference between a “Server Bug” and a “Client side LAG” is of critical importance.
As 10 seconds od unresponsiveness in the Abyss, can lead to Trillion in loss.
And because of that “Client based LAG” difference, they are pretty much covered from any
kind of refund.

Untill now. No-one ever bothered even trying against these odds.

jita aside, it’s blatantly anti-ethical. even if some bad actors could profit from a more benign “guideline” formula. One that locks anyone out, from seeing the inner workings of the Macro-economy at scale.

Trillion? Really?

Anyway, I believe with respect to abyssal content the prevailing policy is that they more or less simply do not do restorations for abyssal losses.

Idk thew numbers, if there’s even 1000 concurrent players flying 5B+ ships in the Abyss.
That would make 5 Trillions. It’s probably much less than that.
But theoretically, it would be possible.

Certainly given the absurdly more demanding entry level of sites, and the fact that I and Aceface where running 3+B ships in T4s, to get just 40mil at the end of each run… didn’t make the experience very much loved… and still it bears too many risks for a little better rewards than the past.
BUT LAG got worst everywhere. Once I had 6 DC in ONE lv4 Mission in my Marauder.
I mean complete blackouts of 5 to 40 mins each. I didn’t die. I finished the mission. Docked.
And never touched the game for the next three days.
This was local LAG 100%. No questions about it. I got lucky I got out alive that day.

A relatively cheap ship and clone will cost you 500 mil, to run T-1 and maybe some T-2.
With an average of 5 to 10mil per site, it will take 50 to 100 runs to get to parity.
Than it can be a good income, but it’s never safe… out of that 100 runs, 5 will be EXTREMELY tuff to finish off, because if random factors… So you can still lose it all on your 95th trip…

When I asked if EVE could run OFFLINE, I wanted to know if it was possible for our small computers, to run an instance if a Solar system, where you could run your missions or even Abyss locally…
It could save resources in the Server, and maybe run even more stable those missions, with close to zero lag… same with Exordium… could it run locally???

These are questions that entails macroeconomy for sure, but are somehow needed questions, Im sure it would help revitalize parts of the game now left empty.

Is there an offline tutorial for PI? Would make a difference if there were Solar sytems where people could work offline on their PI planet in tranquillity, untill somevisitors wants to interact with your offline world? Could the two worlds works in combination to optimize the load on other loactions?

One very simple question can have a million different answers…
Jita is one of such places

Or you run T1 in a 30M Frigate and T2 in a 60M Assault Frigate with an empty clone and have regained your investment in pretty much no time.

@Queotzcatl
Another quality thread. I already miss you. You know that they own everything on their server and you nothing? Also they can at anytime just exercise their property rights and remove your access from game and forums permanently without any reason given?

You could probably get legal support for a refund of ongoing subscription fees, but most likely they also will just close your account afterwards. They don’t need to interact and do business with “difficult customers”, they can just set them on the ignore list after the subscription refund is given.

The terms of entering abyssal deadspace where shown upon entering it. If you can’t live with all the possible consequences and outcomes that happen at or beyond your control, then just don’t enter. It shouldn’t be impossible to understand, right?

So all in all you seem to have set in motion your “winning move” in EVE and have enough time to play a different game soon enough.

That’s the cost for telling the truth: asking for ethical, responsible, transparent behaviour, in all realms of life. That does not imply I am a slave-customer and my plane will crash like that of the brother of Yves guillemot, because accidents happens all the time, and is good custom, to seek
the good part within each and everyone, without giving pre-sealed judgments.

tnx for your attention, do good and you will be rewarded. Act egoistically and agnostic reasoning may come at play in the mist unexpected moment. Socrates didn’t choose to lie. The whole society suffered the consequences of that decision to judge him as a peril to the nation.

PS: I lost tens of ships and clones to the Abyss, and I never, ever, encountered s completely unresponsive UI, that delays commands store them in stacks, and then executes one randomly, and reshuts the door for further commands.

A simple RESET BUFFER on the command stack, would get rid of this problem. Ofc it need a good programmer than knows what he’s doing. It would optimize Abyssal time-stretch events, snd reduce random parsing errors, only reading the very last command in queue.

We can work together, to get a better EVE for all, if we decide to cooperate.
Money income could take a hit in the immediacy of the changes, but if the system after results in a better experience for everyone, is a win-win situation.
