Someone at CCP had the brilliant new idea of ’ Let’s make a big window flash up on the screen telling people they are Omega, when their monthly payment goes through’.
So there’s me, trying to target a suspect outside Jita, when suddenly this window pops up and covers half the screen, telling me all the wonderful benefits of being Omega. Well, thanks CCP, its actually quite a nicely presented window. BUT…not something you really want popping up in the middle of a battle or when ganking or any activity where you have to concentrate.
I’m fine with it popping up next time | visit a station. Otherwise I’ll just have to stay docked next time I know a payment is due to go through
I am forcing everyone to read it. I am going to virtually twist all of their arms to read it. I am making this thread go viral.
Seriously, I think it was 2 years ago they added the docking plaque message, as if the AI telling us audibly was not bad enough. Now they are actually going to alienate the paid players to wishing they hadn’t bought omega. Since I am not omega, I won’t see it, but maybe some one will post an image or a video someday.
Meanwhile I am certain they can make it worse, like blaring out a fanfare, and psychedelic explosion of colors and flashing, to endorse seizures even in people with no epileptic history at all, Spinning animated ISK and omega symbols abound as the words “Congrats! Pilot you are now omega and no longer pathetic.” slowly crawl across the screen 3 times. Then your ship glows brighter than the sun for everyone to see as you are pummeled with missiles and rockets from the nearby ships around you.
If you are getting the ‘you are now omega’ window in the middle of a battle, you must have been distracted already by paying for omega while in the middle of that battle.
Apparently you had enough time to pay for omega while fighting, so surely you also have time to click away the window that confirms your payment?
So OP lost 6 dimensional chess against a suspect that made sure OP’s omega splash screen popped up just at the right moment. A gf is in order I suppose.
Nooo…you’ve completely misconstrued. I’d already had an automated Omega payment for months. I don’t do anything in-game. The in-game window appears at the same time as the automated payment is taken…regardless of whether you are docked or undocked or whatever.
It’s not a major issue, given that it only happens once a month or so. I’m simply pointing out that its an example of bad coding…not to have considered that this quite large window might pop up in the middle of a battle or ganking or some other such instance.
No, the only thing I feel the need to cry over is people who compulsively feel the need to post irrelevant trollish comments that say more about them than about the issue at hand.
The only time I get Omega is when I explicitly buy a pack (usually on discount), which then instantly causes the Omega pop up to show in the game when I pay. This means for me that Omega popup only shows when I’m busy in a payment window in another window.
I often feel alts in many mmos are unneeded. However I started playing this a year ago, I found alts make you ISK rich quicker the same way they do in Black Desert. Also if your main is ‘pinned down’ at a station waiting on gate campers to go away, you can play on an alt. For me, it isn’t about being unable to afford spending my retirement check on Eve, I am just enjoying the free to play option here. I now have a total of 6 characters on 2 accounts. Both accounts could go omega today, if I cash in their Plex. But then it would be like you are obligated to get omega every month just to fly the flashy ships in your hangar. I spend my real money on Black Desert because they have virtual doll houses, clothes, furniture, and whatnot. My grand daughter and I try to beat each other at who has the better house. To be honest, I think she won, she rents the mansion over near Heidel. If this game would have more usable characters and clothes, they would make a ton of cash of this old woman.
@Princess_Rose_Ivory Your post is uplifting, it’s nice to know you’re enjoying a game with your grand daughter.
I mostly play games offline because I choose not to pay for cable, internet and other frivolity. Only my phone is connected for banking. I have other more important things to pay for which don’t leave me much for entertainment and online games aren’t part of my priorities. I get online when I stay with my partner.
I don’t want more than one account or billions of isks. I’m not interested in the politics, the taking over of anything or who fights who. I’m casually exploring the Alpha possibilities for now, no hurry, just like the speed of the SP
And as far as the PLEX is concerned, I’m not one to grind my time away. It’s now worth over 5M… for 1 I don’t think so.
Oddly enough it is pretty tame compared to this game. A few years ago ( before a lot changes ) I would get killed on the open road between Heidel and Calpheon by the reds. I didn’t mind it, it is open world PvP. Then they made a PvP server and most of the random player killers went there. I am still very cautious about leaving town.
PA got me a bit hot under the collar when they recently changed the life skill ( like cooking ) to family owned instead of per character. I worked hard on those skills. Kind of like if they changed your skills to cover all 3 pilots on your account. Sure that is great for newbies but people who been playing for some time get the shaft.
When they add those forced announcements or commercial interruptions, it is more annoying to me than getting player killed. My point is games can get very annoying at times, we all need to take a breathe of fresh air. Eve Online is still fun to play.
