The cost of suicide ganking is too low

Go kill the fatty, bloated, slow whales that float like turds between HS and NS in the sewer pipes.

The real salt/money is in HS freighters/haulers, not in HS miners (whom earn a pittance compared to NS anyways).

A noob Venture you are trying to squeeze 10mil out of for a license is so not worth it compared to a fat, untanked, unprepared cargo ship.

Im so glad CODE is finally starting to realize this.

Friendly reminder that this thread is about the cost of suicide ganking being too low and what can be done about it, not what potential victims can do to gimp themselves enough to be less desirable to them.

If you blamed the victims of suicide ganking in any way in this thread, you fail and should feel bad.

Tanking and taking precautions are not gimping yourself.

They are means to pre-empt/prevent a successful gank so as to deliver your cargo as safely as possible.

An armored/guarded valuable goods transport vehicle is not “gimped” IRL by any means.
An unarmored/unguarded one, is.

We get it that you don’t get it.

Now stop filling the thread with worthless, unrelated spam please. We have heard the victim blaming nonsense thousands of times already.

The irony is clear.

Friendly reminder that you are not a victim. Friendly reminder that exhibiting even a modicum of decent sense in how you fit and fly your ship does make ganking more expensive. What “can be done about it” has been explained ad nauseum. And it’s entirely in your power to do! Nobody has to do it for you. For a mature, self-sufficient adult, this is wonderful news.

This.

Losing your ship/stuff doesnt make you a “victim” in EVE.
The whole design of this game is reliant and predicated on loss.

I have to agree that if you feel you are a victim in Eve, you are playing the wrong game.

everybody is beating each other, for the fun. The moment you undock, you accept to get beaten.

Yeah, there is an easy way to make suicid ganking more expensive : don’t undock. Don’t log in. They will waste time to not kill you.

LMAO!

He is right, victim blaming when the act is suicide is very wrong.

Remember, kids: Suicide; Dont Do It
I call BS because gankers take none
This isn’t true, for several reasons. I’ll try explain them to you, but I need to take a slight diversion.

The only thing anyone risks in eve is time. Time that you spent aquiring the isk, time you spent anchoring a citadel, time you spent in a fleeet, time you spent doing nothing instead of something fun. Everything boils down to time.

So, with this perspective let’s look at how you’re wrong. I’ll keep it to two reasons for the sake of brevity.

Firstly, as people have repeatedly pointed out, if you manage to prevent/ avoid my attempts to gank you, I have wasted my isk on ships that took me time to gain. Everyone can see when this happens so it tends to get more of the attention, however it leads into the second point, one that people outside of the freighter ganking communities don’t see.

It takes time to find acceptable targets. it’s not uncommon for me and my group to spend 10s of person hours/day looking for freighters that are worth ganking. If we don’t find anything because everyone is sensibly fit/not overladen then we have literally wasted our time. Those 10s of hours looking for a target that we could instead spend doing something else are our risk.

Greed and laziness are two possible answers, a third is just plain old vanilla ignorance. And of course we can mix-and-match these as well.

Unless there is yet another reason, one that is more virtuous appearing, it seems being angry at those who take advantage of one’s foolishness and imprudence is not a situation where one occupies the moral high ground.

But yes, we are now almost 24 hours in and yet to see an serious and valid response to the question.

The victim is only a victim of their own imprudence and foolishness. Do not overload your freighter, put on bulkheads and use a scout and you’re risk of ganking will fall dramatically. It won’t be impossible, but that is as it should be.

Yup. If it takes 16 catalysts to burn down an obelisk with cargo expanders, but it takes 42 to burn one down with reinforced bulkheads and a booster ship…well ganking just got more expensive. Add in logistics ships and it gets even more expensive. The more expensive to gank the more cargo value you can haul.

But it is so much easier to be lazy and ask CCP to do one’s work.

Let me put it another way yet again…

If you are a freighter pilot/hauler and you think the cost of ganking is “too low” relative to the rewards…then change it. Here are the things under your control as a freighter pilot:

 1. Cargo value.
 2. Tank vs. anti-tank.
 3. Getting a scout.
 4. Getting a booster ship.
 5. Getting buddies in logistics ships, if you have to haul “alot” then have some buddies tag along in logistics ships so that it takes more in ISK value to gank the freighter than the expected loot drop is worth.

These are all things that are currently available to the freighter pilot/hauler in game right now. Right now. You don’t have to ask CCP. These are things you can do.

If you aren’t doing 2-5 and are putting 6.85 billion ISK worth of cargo into your charon, you are taking lots of risk.

so the idea is that every blue target in HS would have a special shield that would prevent certain types of ships from being able to damage it. These shields would be unpenetrable by smaller craft such as destroyers and frigates and most cruisers. The total cost for a ship that is capable of penetrating the high sec shield should probably be over 60 mil or so, and probably require T2 modules. This would not only deter suicide ganking being used as a common grief tactic but provide infinitely greater incentive for vigilante AG forces, and additionally give opportunites for real vengeance to the victims of suicide ganking.

Its perfectly fine that suicide ganking be reserved for the hardcore and affluent rather than a grief outlet for the human garbage of online gaming.

Suicide ganking is not real pvp because pvp implies that both players are in the game. Many suicide gank targets are not even aware of the possibilies because the game does not inform them sufficiently of the rules of high sec, and it seems unrealistically expectant to not consider them victims.

I understand the inane reactions to this topic from the regular rabble, however. They are afraid to lose their easymode bully/grief tactics and risk-free “pvp”.

So as a “newbie High Sec Player” who has been ganked in High Sec, I can honestly say I love the risk involved, I have learnt lessons through the internet and in gameplay and am now better at avoiding being ganked.

EVE is made up of risks, and I love it. I would not want to be able to roam free in High Sec without that risk.

I have learnt three good lessons, dont fly what you dont want to lose, Fit some damn tank for gods sake and be prepared for the odd loss when you AFK, its in-evitable. But if I can make 300 mil in afk mining whilst doing other things and loose one ship from gank worth 40Mil, I am still in profit!

That is projection. I’m not the one going around beating up on defenseless randoms and noobs to feel good about myself. Truth hurt? Suck it up. It is obvious that EVE is too easy for suicide gankers and it is beyond time for some equity.

Thanks for the bumps though.

It’s good that you say it, we never know.
Could you please consider that people have the right to have a different opinion than yours and still have a right to expression ?

When you assume something about someone (yet I think he is an alt too), it is good but someone assume something about you it becomes “projection” ?
Also calling someone pathetic is just a plain insult. You could respect yourself a bit more, because you are the one making yourself pathetic here. Truth hurts ? Deal with it
(this is also the kind of thing that you say which makes you despicable)

I don’t know who you think will want to read your point if you have any, but I don’t think this behaviour of yours will make it happen.
