The cost of suicide ganking is too low

Not this one…

There is a type of gamer who expects each game he plays to be, basically, WSAD/L-Click/C/Space-Bar/Number-buttons. Such a player is not really seeking a challenge to overcome as much as he wishes to excel in any game he plays through the application of well-rehearsed manual gymnastics.

These players likely don’t RTFM.

He will come a rather large cropper with EVE though. None of that works, and there isn’t a FM.

“Wat?!!” :open_mouth:

hoping the webbing newbro doesn’t fit a point.

Also once you are bumped you can’t align. no use to get a webber at this moment.

Yes, I understand the risk of an escort turning coat suddenly.
But if they dont, they can help a target out of a bump situation before the gank fleet arrives or a point is initiated.

Yes, but thats not that much of an issue as long as they are in a cheap and effective ship.
The escorted target will naturally be expected to cover costs for the escort + payment.

Ill take some time and look into how logi/ecm, by ideally one cheapish ship, could swing a gank sufficiently in favor of the target so as to survive till CONCORD eliminates enough gankers to neutralize the threat.

Or, perhaps even a Destroyer/Cruiser or even BC that can eliminate enough of the gankers in the case of aggression, fast enough, to swing the reduction in dps of the gank fleet in favor of the targets EHP.

I could use some help from people more familiar with the mechanics/stats/costs involved.

My hope, is that there is some cheap/efficient method to achieve this that has been as of yet overlooked.

Webs dont work on bumped targets to enable faster alignment?

  1. At what point does the effect of the bump rescind, and the target can be webbed to a faster align again?

  2. Can the escorting webber initiate a duel before and without the escorted ship dropping gate cloak?

  3. Can the escorted vessel and escort pass through the next gate whilst in a duel?

let me check on sisi
edit nm sisi is ■■■■■■■ with my alts.

  1. is yes
  2. I think is yes.

The web works with the following requirement : target 's vector speed is aligned toward its warp desto and within… 15 ° cant remember. Also, target speed is 75% of its max speed, divided by the web speed reducer. eg a reducing of 10 with a dd( -90%=/10) means that the freighter needs to reach 7.5% of its max speed.

Once a fregither is bumped, he has over 75% of its max speed, but he is not aligned toward something he can warp. if he needs 30s to warp, that is to reach 75% max speed, he also need 30s to get back to 0 . I think(correct me please) that if he is eg at 300%, then he will need 4 times his align to get back to 0.
meanwhile if you web him, that is divide his max speed by 10, you also multiply the remaining align time to get to 0 by 10. instead of 2 min to get back to 0 (hen 30s to warp), he will need 20min to get back to 0 if webbed. Again, someone correct me please (I actually think those numbers are not the correct one.

basically, webbing only helps when the target is already aligning from decloack. AND as reached enough speed. the second dd web divides by 5 I think, in the end the freighter need only to reach 2.8% of his max speed, that is 30s / 10/5 = 0.6s of align (considering he has a 30s align time. up to 150 s he will insta warp once webbed)

Thank you. Any info you can provide will be helpful.

I think its worth the effort to try and find a way for a 3rd party escort, as cheap and small as possible, to swing the gank mechanics in favor of the target.

I want to believe there is a way in EVE to facilitate that.
It SHOULD be possible, imo, in a sandbox as this game is, at less cost than the gank fleet in total.

Edit: No problem.
Perhaps someone else knows the answers to my three questions above already?

I edited.

  1. Do webs stack for this purpose?

  2. So if the escort can initiate duel with the escorted vessel at first instance, they can pass through all subsequent gates with the webber escort initiating the web as soon as the escorted ship drops out of cloak to align, after the webber takes their due time to target-lock them.

  3. I dont quite understand your calculations/result in the quote.
Lets take a vanilla Bowhead as an example, with no fittings whatsoever.
What would be the time to warp if its targetted and webbed by an escorting frigate using 1 (or multiple if they stack) webs within say 3s of decloaking, via duel?

"However people rarely feel need to educate them self when it’s dry and warm and nothing hurts. And usually people start to learn when they already suffered some consequences of their ignorance."
Sorry the quote thingy isnt working.

Im not sure what you mean. I can only assume you mean CODE? I thought you were against them.

I think he was referring to the human condition, within and without EVE.
Which, btw, I agree with and I think you would too.

Ok. I literally have no idea what you guys are on about then.

Anderson Geten and I are exploring AGs options, to which I heartily invite you.

March was talking about your proposal that AG focus on educating people to fly “safe”, and how unfortunately the human condition is such that people dont bother to adapt as long as they are comfy/warm etc. Its only when they are forced to, that they realize its necessity.

He is not disagreeing with you.
CODE, in part, is that which is forcing these people to adapt and realize they arent safe and warm, and you are accurate in that regard, and I think any rational person would agree.

Ok cool.

The whole “not reacting till you are cold and hungry” just confused me. I plan accordingly.

Anyway Im glad to hear that people see a future for antiga teaching how to be alive rather than just reacting. However their first test will be agaibst CEOs who refuse to listen and let their crews go out in untanked ships during war.

currently checking with a freighter 50s align on sisi
Had to repeat because I forgot some small details, like DONT LET THE MACH BUMP THE FREIGHTER AGAIN

  • duel accepted while cloak
  • freighter 93.4m/s max and 49.56s align
  • mach with max speed 1951 m/s, distance 30km, 4nanofibers 2inertials 1overdrive(all T2) 1enduring500mn
  • bumped from a mach @1900m/s leads to a 375m/s freighter
    – t+0 : 375
    – t+20 : 204
    – t+40 : 119
    – t+60 : 67
    – t+80 : 38
    – t+100 : 22
    – t+120 : 12.5
  • aligning the freighter without a bump of initial speed :
    – t+0 : 0
    – t+10 : 23
    – t+20 : 40
    – t+30 : 53
    – t+40 : 63
    – t+50 : 71
    – t+60 : 76.5

Just need to make time relative to align tiem and speed to max speed, and some porn graph. then extrapolate.

friendly remember : once the webber has used web, he has a (minute ?) of weap timer so he can’t jump next gate and the freighter should wait before that next gate. doesn’t happen often, though, as the freighter takes long to warp.

  1. I find the AG angle interesting and want to explore whether EVE systemically offers a more efficient method for them to fight gankers. My hypothesis is that if HS mechanics enable ganking, they should also enable a cheaper reaction on the part of a 3rd party associated/aiding the gank target. There “should”, in theory, be a way to make that possible in this sandbox, even as the game exists atm without changes.

  2. CEOs are largely crap, and people are lazy. Not only in how they fly, but how much they bother to learn about EVE in the interest of their own safety/success. AG can run an “education campaign”, but I dont yet want to believe that there isnt a practical means whereby AG can actively offer a player based service and intervention to a gank action at a cheaper cost/efficiency than the Ganking fleet which is largely moderated purely by CONCORD (NPC).

  3. I posit it is always preferable that players are involved, and that that constitutes a higher value in EVE. I dont yet want to resign myself to believe that a gank cant be intervened upon by a cheaper/more efficient 3rd party in HS, than the gank fleet. If this is not so, then it means CONCORD/NPCs are the moderating force, rather than players, and the “sandbox” model breaks in HS.

TLDR: If players cant do it better than CONCORD(NPC), something is wrong in the sandbox.
Even and especially in HS.

align time after bump/ from 0 expressed as % of align time and % of max speed.

Fantastic work.

Now please help us understand what it means?

How do webs figure into this?

Per my layman understanding, the impact of a bump by that ship on that target makes webbing it largely a non-option in terms of helping it into warp, as the target will be re-bumped again before it can align even with the web modifier once the previous bump has “ended”.

both graph, x is the % time relative to align time. y is the ship speed relative to max speed
It shows that contrary to my belief, webbing a freighter helps it get back to 0 faster, as the deceleration seem to be proportionnal to speed/maxspeed. so webbing him until he reaches something like 100% max speed (under 90% web, so actually 10% of max speed without webs)should actually help get back to 0 speed faster.

A very long but worthwhile post, Patti. It’s frustrating, isn’t it? that so many well-meant words are simply pushed aside, consigned to the waste bin. All we’re trying to do is to offer help. We’re even exposing our own weaknesses in terms of suicide-ganking, but still it isn’t enough.

I think your post should be pinned to the head of this forum, and to those dedicated to new players and afficionados of crime and punishment. All new threads containing any of the words/terms ‘CODE., suicide-ganking, Highsec PvP’, etc., should auto-redirect to your magnificent offering.

webs alsways stack as other : strongest one gives full mult, 2nd strongest one gives 87% strengh.

so dd T2 -90%

  1. 90% so /10
  2. 78.3% so /4.6 (sorry not 5) total /46
  3. 51% so /2. total /90

T2 webs with -60%

  1. 60% so /2.5
  2. 52% so /2.1 total 5.25
  3. 34.2% so /1.5 total ~/8

dd is better t webbing, however it can’t target far enough a cruor will help target twice as long with T2 webs, making it a much cheaper webber.
The matter for dd is to get into web range (13km OL) so he needs to burn back to gate, and start lockin+orbiting the freighter once he decloacks, hoping to not bump into the gate or ships surrounding.
A curor needs the same but is much better at doing so. with 3 webs you can put a ship in orbit once he reached 10% of max speed, that is after something like 8% of align time. so that means 4s ofr my freighter, considering the 2s decloak+web delay +human reaction I just need to wait a few seconds(2 is actually enough) to ensure a correct warp.

Don’t makje the mistake to double click the freighter thoug. I did it once and didnt understand why my freighter was not in warp. Well, I bumped him instead of warp him
