and prior to every one of these necessary changes, we had the same dumb people telling us to “adapt or die”. They are either too stupid to understand the inequity of the problems or they are benefiting from it and don’t care.
Nobody in this thread is in a position to tell me to “learn to play”. I’m not the one who spends all their time going around beating up on randoms and noobs who can’t fight back, and arguing incessantly on the forums because nobody can stand me IRL. The truth hurts sometimes, I understand.
EDIT: It doesn’t really matter what’s the stated intention of a change if that change also affects other factors in a major way. CCP knew perfectly well what a buff to freighter defences would mean for the scallywags of Uedama/Niarja. It’s not surprising that suicide-gankers picked up on it, and adjusted their calculations accordingly. That’s what we do.
The rest of the comment can be answered thus: We’re always forced to adapt to balance changes, along with everyone else in the game, or to leave, if the changes don’t suit us.
It’s not just a case of the activity becoming too expensive. If our capacity to enjoy suicide-ganking is impaired for some reason, we’ll pretty quickly opt out, I think.
In general, and it is a generalisation, Highsec suicide-gankers of the Code variety don’t yell at CCP to help them in their endeavours. If CCP doesn’t listen to the CSM about Highsec, they’re hardly likely to listen to random gankers whose presence I suspect they barely tolerate.
Thanks for taking the time to put all this in one post. I have been trying to follow this thread but through all the personal attacks and off topic rambling the important stuff gets buried.
As a miner I’m not looking for a magic module and I don’t want ganking to go away like some suggest. I want gankers to have skin in the game. They like to throw around numbers and cost but even if they fail the don’t feel the hurt when they are backed by very wealthy lowsec corps. As a casual player losing a 300mill barge can set me back several months while gankers ships are payed for or donated. It cost them nothing. they dont feel the hurt like I do.
IMO the best solution would be to make security status matter. Once they get below a point they should lose access to all NPC stations. Anyone they interact with in space (orca alt as a base of operation for example) should become suspect. This would at least give players a target for retaliation. Since they love to force their play style on others, a way to force them to run missions would only be fair. As for bumping…This needs to go. It’s nothing but a cheap way around game mechanics. Warp scramblers and stabilizers are in the game for a reason. A player comes prepared with stabilizers, gankers resort to bumping to which there is no counter. I wouldn’t mind seeing remote warp core stabilizers in the future so fleet members could help out when gankers adapt and start fitting scramblers on every gank ship.
…and I slipped in a quick edit to address the assertion. You could say that every change affecting Highsec suicide-ganking has always carried with it other or implied changes, thus allowing counter arguments. CCP does this deliberately, with a ‘devil’s advocate’ approach. It’s clever, and often successful.
I read the edit, and it neither debunks the fact these changes where made for universal reasons, nor did you answer if there are more so-called “nerfs” to HS ganking.
Thanks for your post. This is an excellent area for continued discussion, making security status matter and forcing suicide gankers to manage their security status or risk becoming easy targets.
It would be optimal for this thread if we could have further discussion in this direction.
i’m a miner pver and agree no need for suicide ganking to go. I’m to an extend with mesacc here though i think the whole situation forsters some reality that real world african resource miner face also and such ccp faces a situation that is very real to real worldish.
go do research and figure please and see for yourself.
