The Final Mission

Most players believe that all legendary deeds in Eve are somehow connected with PVP. All significant alliances here are PVP alliances and they fight for space in null-sec or kill keepstars… PVP is honorable while mining or manufacturing just serves the needs of war campaigns, having no indindividual idea. That was what I thought untill I heard about the Night Workshop, a group of russian enthusiasts who’s aim is to build all ships in the game. They build them not for the market, but for a cоllection or a museum of eve technologies that has never existed. It seems pointless because the only sence of the game has always been to defeat someone. InnerHells from Wormholes became popular when claimed war against null-sec alliances. Goonswarm are fighting against Pandemic Horde, Faceless squad are fighting the powerblocks… But what if the final mission of the game is to make something significant together?

Palpatine. The greatest citadel ever, a real achievement, a distant dream… Yodik, a mad space Don Quihote spent years trying to build it by himself and gave up a couple of months ago. The calculations made it evident: there is not enough resourse in game to finish it. But what do we waste the resourse on? War ships? We demolish them and build again and it’s a cursed circle of confrontation. We feel happy to see that our enemy lost 30 billion isks in a fight and we lost 10, but the key word is lost, not gained!

Why do we need the Palpatine? To prove that we can do it and can work together, can put off individual interests for a common aim. The idea should be introduced not by the Night Workshop, but by the most powerful alliance in the game. Then they need to find allies. There will be plenty of work for the diplomatic department. Our armies will have to defend transport ships with ore and the citadel from vandals and pirates. And the most important thing is that we will have to stop all war conflicts in eve for at least a year to concentrate our attention on the work. It can ruin the game we know and clear space for something else, because it might be difficult to resume fighting each other when the work is finished. Confilcts may turn into smallscale and midscale honor pvp, reconstructions of historic fights such as those in BR-5 of C-J, solo-fights as duels, Goner weddings with rutual sacrificing of titans and fights between invited guests - what a wedding can do without it? But no wars. No enemies. No betrayals. No spies. No hatred between tickers and pilots. Eve Online can become more about Discovery projects with gaming community helping real scientists, about AT, with more social projects like “broadcast for reps”, a channel for those who want to harm themselves IRL, with exciting roleplay and room for creativity… This game will never be the same but still it will be so interesting, so new…

Is it possible?

THe problem with looking for a brihgter sie of eve…. is some (a lot) of us enjoy being able to do things irl would land us in trouble. We have the option here to smack down someone annoying us. or to make things destroy things. There’s nothing as cinematic or lovey as a mass non planned gorwing fight. other than a similar mass pve or mining fleet to watch either be friendly or rough
