Yesterday when I logged in to play some EVE, the game once again made my screen go black. I restarted my computer, which has always worked fine before, but my sound was muted. I tried all the troubleshooting; checking settings, reactivating drivers, reinstalling drivers, etc., but no luck yet. How do I unmute all my computer sounds, and prevent EVE from muting them?
Anything change in your audio settings?
I haven’t changed my audio settings on my computer. I logged back into the game and tried turning off all in-game sounds, as someone had suggested disabling one would reenable the other.
Did that help? Did a computer restart help?
No; the computer sounds are still muted after restarting.
Have you looked at the advanced audio settings? Maybe try toggling some of those.
Yes, I checked those, too. I think I’ve run out of things to toggle. I’ve gone into the control panel, device manage, properties, etc., everything that was mentioned in the troubleshooting steps I read at different websites.
I am hoping I won’t have to wait on the next EVE game or launcher patch for this issue to be fixed.
I read in the EVE forums that this was a known issue a few years ago. I did not see a solution posted for it, though.
Clean install of EVE?
Maybe this is also related to the mystery noise many are getting ( see my thread on the issue )…i.e there is some sort of sound issue affecting people differently.
You want me to reinstall the game?
Are other sounds on the computer outside of eve OK? if not you may want to check those, or go into your OS volume Mixer (I assume win 10 or 11) and ensure the sliders are OK, the 2 54s below are my eve clients
Just suggesting it as a last resort (had to do this to get rid of 40-50GB of unused files that EVE had cached).
From another thread: try turning the atmospheric off completely.
A GM solved it; in the launcher, click on a character, then Account Settings, then Choose Profile, then type the name of a new profile, log in with that new profile for that/any character, and it resets the game’s sound settings. That restored all my computer sounds.
