I’ve mined, PVE’d, etc in systems that see a ganker once in a blue moon. For a while I mined in 0.6 Azerakish…( about 8 jumps from Amarr, if I recall correctly ) and literally had the system all to myself…which was bizarre as it has probably the largest asteroid belts in EVE and there’s no-one there. Now and then the southern branch of Safety would show up…but that was quite rare. I’ve also used 0.5 Aurcel for PVE…rarely more than 3 or 4 people there and rarely any gankers.
The last place I’d abyssal run is a system right next to Jita. And if I did…I’d use my system of safe spots to ensure not being caught. You just set up 3 or 4 safe spots and warp between them one after another so that by the time anyone has traced you…you are at the next safe spot. I often use this method when I have a weapons timer.
My Abyssalrunner was attacked like 3 times so far. They used more like 7 ships, not 10. And I won every time, very conveniently. Overheating, Drugs, Afterburner, AssaultDamage Control and shooting back instantly are your friends.
Especially if they are heavily multiboxing, which most of them do, they won’t begin shooting all at once. And burning away with overheated AB will actually reduce Catalyst DPS quite a LOT before they have multple webs on you. To the degee that many groups have switched over to Coercers already. Which results in quite a bit lower real DPS you have to tank.
Besides that, T4 can be run in very cheap ships, easily replaced if you get ganked once every blue moon. And if you still can’t stand it, find yourself a wormhole with a large AU radius, make a deepsave and drop a POS. Chance that some random combatprober finds an off-angle Deepsafe 80 or 90 AU from the star in a random WH is close to zero. Especially if there is no local and absolutely nobody even knows you are running there.
The thing you’re missing is that you seem to be of the opinion that your abyssal runner getting ganked is some sort of systemic adversity and not a personal problem that nobody else gives a ■■■■ about.
Yes? Okay?
What of it?
You seem, to be suffering under the delusion that this isn’t a deliberate and intentional thing, and it very clearly is. You can either accept the risk as a cost of doing abyssals or not, but making sure a Timmy can farm 500m/hr in perfect safety isn’t a design goal and it’s never going to be.
“PVP happens in this PVP game”, yup. The trick is to lower your risk, and being on an obvious HS island “no one would go to” is exactly where everyone goes to.
I don’t believe that abyssal sites should be safe. It is a spectacularly lucrative isk farm, it should be dangerous. Abyssals are one of my favorite pastimes and its all about location, location, location.
You can also use an Orca Alt, park it a few 100km away, aligned to the trace. Jump out, warp to your main while it still is invulnerable. Store the ship into the Orca and leave.
DO NOT TRY THIS!!! It doesn’t work, okay? It will literally not work and you will lose your expensive ship, genuinely and actually. I am serious, it will not work, and you will stare in disbelief at the screen at what just happened. You are NOT going to avoid anything!
Trust me, just buy the abyssal permit. And then you will be safe.
it can mean 2 things, either there’s only 1 runner per month who enters island HS systems, and they got located and killed fast, or that gankers travel to these systems once in a month and a half, kind of 50/50 situation. There may be pretty much eyes in the systems looking for people trying to run away from HS
yes and no. Yes, it may be alright to have the current state of 0.5 systems. 0.6 is questionable, you can run incursions in complete safety and have the same isk/hr, does it really has to be like that? maybe? idk. For 0.7, 0.8, 0.9 systems I’d add a mechanic that would make concord pre-spawn in 25-50% cases and make it a game of chance to not get a guarantee protection. With t4 abyss for cruisers most of the runs a only slight profit or about net 0, for t3 cruiser sites it’s about 60 mil an hour and I don’t see a reason of why not give people an extra mean of protection even rng based, making running these sites slightly more safe. It’ll become a fine alternative for low-SP players, because as of now I suppose besides incursions and joining anull-bloc, what are other ways for alpha/new player to make good isk? trading and industry is blocked behind omega and need to be studyend carefully before doing it and is not for everyone clearly. Scanning maybe? daytrips also take quite some time and are quite risky as well. Having to do more then 2 pve options would be quite nice, it’s more to do and a person is not locked for only 2 options
there are enourmous numbers of killmails all across the HS space, in 0.5, 0.6 and higher systems. I tried to pick a new system to run t4s, but after each and every one of them had ganking happened for the last 1-2 monts I gave up on it. I accepted that there’s a soft cap on pve isk/hr, as incursions give up to 300 mil/hr so does t6 abyss with running second toon on the spot to pre-call concord. But after giving it some time to think about, I’d love to see more options for self-protection for lower tiers of abyss, t0-t4, which are 0.7, 0.8, 0.9 systems
ET : 2 , 3 , 5 , 6 , 9 , 10 , 13 , 15 , 18 , 23 , see Miah. Basically all across the day, so it’s kind of pointless to specifically stamp these here. One ganking corp goes to slee, another one starts running
we can look up for what corp runs about when, trace their last active toons and check them up via locator agents. It requires some time to set up, ties a base system to a one having a locator agent, still leaves some room for error, like we never know if they decide to use 10 new toons that were not in the killmails yet, or I can always miss one or more collectives that do ganking and they may slip under the radar. But it’s some info, and given I’ve not thinking about it before as an option, it’s not a bad advice, ty
yep, in further away systems from the HS there are also many coercers, which do significantly more effective damage to ishar with EM hole in it. I did a simulation and it was about 2.3-2.7 k dps tanks against crystals which is… well smth, but likely not enough
