the title is basically self-explanatory, running any abyssals on any ship is playing a roulette game of exiting a site and hoping gankers have not found you, or rather, were not bored enough to find you
*for anyone about to write “don’t do X in forge” I’ve seen to many mails from all parts of HS, it not veen about the bloody forge…
there’s not quite a lack, but rather an abscence of any mechanics regulating such interaction and a clear unvillingness to do anything about it from both the community side (not discussing any related problems enough partly because barely nothing happend for years) and a FC side (that did not do anything about it, because you need to have an omega to gank and when gankers pay subs profits go brr).
I clearly see a how I can fix it myself. I either have to join a large null-block with intel channels and roll abyssals here, which in vast majority of cases also means that I’d need to have a mandatory X hrs in fleets monthly. Second option is to swipe for 2 extra accounts myself and probably a better PC to run these. If you have a logi on spot and a corvette to call the concord you’re making yourself an extremely difficult target to gank which sounds like a perfect solution (jokes on people saying eve is not p2w btw, you literally swipe and fix your problems lol).
There are 2 issues to it actually, 1st one is that I’m not from the EU/US region and w/o local prices can’t afford to pay even for a single omega account. 2nd problem is, I’m in principal not paying more money for a badly done job or rather an abscence of it. The company is worth rewarding for the good, enjoyable and satisfying player experience. If I have to fix an issue myself with a company’s product by paying 2x times more, there’s no incentive to make it better - the company takes your money and walks away with greater profits. The effect will actually be opposite, since more revenue means we’re doing good and should carry on as such.
After seeing gank killmails from last 3 months on basically every single 0.5 systems even on isands I ditched my goal of going for t6 abyssals and will leave the game in a few days for greater good, as there’s nothing left for me to do anymore - I got denied of making money by how bad or rather not-well-thought-out the game mechanics are. The concord is useless and never protects - only vindicates. You can’t make an engagement on spot any remotely fair, you’ll always lose your ship no matter what, unless you fix it yourself see above.
You can hide 30-40-50 jumps away from jita hoping they wont find you, but the matter stays the same - a person for their own funsies can and will deny you any money you’ve been sweating to get in the abyss by just scanning a beacon down and popping your ship.
You won’t deny them from hours of their gameplay back ever, because, mind you, it’s objectively impossible (funny right?) they’ll get popped by concord and continue to run around doing whatever they want (is there even a reason for hs space to exist in it’s current form if ventures in t1 fits are getting killed for the same fun-sake? kind of a joke imo), while others have to either pay to not lose or run as far away as possible hoping they won’t get killed here. After realising how bad and twisted the picture is, I got depressed and demotivated to do anything here and will leave the game in a few days for greater good.
And before any of you type “poor miner got denied from making trillions in HS safely, I’m so sorry etc” for the reference there’s actually a legitimate way to make about as much as you would from t6 abyss, given you sell stuff on buy orders in jita, time to travell to sell all the stuff etc, which is HQ incruision fleets with building concord LP items yourself. The difference is, the incursion fleet is as safe as an abyss should be - you have eyes 5-10 jumps away, you travell on a BS with full-tank 300k ehp cloak+mwd travel fit with all the valuable faction modules in the sub 2 sec align escape frigate while having intel on gankers on the way between focuses etc. The only difference - you’re forced to attend at the time a fleet commander can play the game, not when you can. And the moment there’s an opportunity to make a comparable isk solo, you’re denied and tortured for the giggles of smb else. I’d way rather spend 4-6 hrs of plexing an account and then as much to actually do smth fun with my buddies, but I guess the game is not here yet.
After seeing that there have not been any changes to this objectively bad game-design, I won’t even propose anything, I’m realising how slow and reactive the game is and if the issue have not been solved any time before, it likely never won’t. So I’m just putting a little rant out here to feel slightly less bad about it, that’s about it.
