Dear EVE Online community,
I have apparently reached the final stage of a journey that began with a very simple request:
I would like to buy a Khanid Cyber Knight – Sigil SKIN.
That is it.
I am not asking for a free SKIN.
I am not asking for special treatment.
I am not asking Fenris to bend the rules.
I would simply like to give Fenris my money.
Unfortunately, this has turned into something considerably more complicated.
How it started
I discovered that the Khanid Cyber Knight – Sigil is no longer available on the marketplace.
As a loyal servant of the Empire and, more importantly in this particular case, the Khanid Kingdom, this was rather disappointing.
The Sigil is a perfect fit for a Khanid pilot.
So I contacted EVE Online Player Experience and politely asked about it.
I waited.
Eventually, I followed up.
And eventually I received an answer from GM Hrdricz.
The answer was, essentially:
Skins from special events or similar circumstances cannot be provided. If a skin was removed from the marketplace, this was done for internal reasons.
I completely understand that GMs cannot simply hand out items.
That’s fair.
But there is one tiny detail that continues to bother me.
I don’t want it for free.
I WANT TO BUY IT.
The strange part
This is where my brain starts struggling.
I have ISK.
I want the SKIN.
The SKIN exists.
Fenris has previously sold the SKIN.
And yet I cannot purchase it.
When I asked why, I was told:
“Internal reasons.”
Ah.
Of course.
Internal reasons.
The beautiful phrase that answers everything while explaining absolutely nothing.
I would understand if the SKIN had been removed because it caused the server cluster to explode.
I would understand if equipping it accidentally summoned a Jove fleet.
I would even understand if every Titan in New Eden turned into a Venture whenever somebody bought one.
But apparently none of those things happened.
It was simply removed.
For reasons that, understandably, cannot be explained to me.
So what now?
Player Experience suggested that I bring my concerns to the EVE forums and the CSM.
So here I am.
Hello, forums.
I have a problem.
I am trying to give Fenris money.
Please advise.
I am beginning to feel like the only person in New Eden who is actively campaigning for Fenris to take my money.
At this point I have written multiple messages to EVE Online support, waited patiently, followed up, received a perfectly polite response, and ended up here.
This is significantly more effort than I expected to invest in a cosmetic item for a Sigil.
And yet I remain committed.
Because this is not just any Sigil.
It is the Khanid Cyber Knight Sigil.
And I am a Khanid loyalist.
My modest proposal
I am not demanding that Fenris give me the SKIN.
I am not demanding that anyone break policy.
I am not demanding special treatment.
I am asking Fenris to consider making the Khanid Cyber Knight – Sigil available for purchase again.
That’s it.
Put it back on the marketplace.
Give players who want it an opportunity to buy it.
And I promise you, I will be standing there with my wallet open.
Ready.
Waiting.
Like an extremely loyal Khanid vulture.
The current situation
So here I am.
A loyal servant of the Empire.
A loyal servant of the Khanid Kingdom.
A man possessing perfectly good ISK.
A man who would like to purchase a digital spaceship cosmetic.
And apparently the greatest obstacle standing between me and that purchase is:
“Internal reasons.”
I remain respectful of Fenris’s policies.
I remain grateful to GM Hrdricz for taking the time to answer me.
But I also remain thoroughly disappointed.
Because somewhere in New Eden there is a Khanid Cyber Knight – Sigil.
And somewhere else there is a customer saying:
“PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY.”
And somehow, these two things are not currently allowed to meet.
I sincerely hope Fenris will reconsider making the SKIN available again.
Until then, I shall continue flying my ordinary Sigil and contemplating this great injustice.
For the Empire.
For the Khanid Kingdom.
For the Empress.
And, most importantly:
FOR THE RETURN OF THE KHANID SIGIL.
-Hiigaren
P.S. Fenris, seriously.
I have ISK / Money.
You have the SKIN.
Let’s make this unnecessarily complicated no longer.
