With the introdution of ,Historic Sisters of EVE SKIN Crate” eve finlay ruined the skin market for me.
Im a YC121 Skin collector and this hits right to the point where i stop collecting any more rare skins in the future. I collect skins for 10 years now and this is the point hwere ccp made a move to ruin my skin collection.
Around 0,5% chance to get a yc121 skin per crate and if 10.000 Players buy one of these this means im totaly screwd….. thx ccp u messed me up quiet far as u introduced a new gamble mechanic to the arldy existing gamble like hypernet, the recend molok bp gamble and now this. I not gonna spend any more money on this game then omega to play it…… what a move…..
Purchase any item in the EVE Store worth $10 or more and get a Historic Sisters of EVE SKIN Crate with a 4.16% chance to grant a random Sisters of EVE ship SKIN from the following lines:
Crystal Blast
One Eden
Sanctuary
Spectral Shift
SoE Blue Cell
SoE Fire Cell
SoE Gold Cell
Yoiul Festival YC121
This offer is valid until 11 November.
Yeah, I highly doubt a 4.16% chance of getting 1 of 8 different SOE ship skins is going to affect the in-game Market..
Basically it’s a Marketing ploy to push merchandise sales in the out-of-game Eve store, I really don’t see the in-game market being flooded by old rare SOE ship skins…
Also about half of those ship skins were available in the NES for a really long time..
Lastly, that offer is only available for 5 days… If anything rare and expensive does drop, it’s definitely not going to affect the in-game Market…
Besides the controversial choice to sell loot boxes I like that CCP is reintroducing older skins.
Does that mean you no longer can get guaranteed profits by investing in exclusive skins? Perhaps.
Does it mean that people who weren’t around back then have another chance to get nice ship skins to use? Yes.
I think the latter weighs up to the former. It benefits players who want to use skins for their ships rather than investors who only want it for ISK.
Opposing the sale of loot boxes and welcoming the reintroduction of old skins are not mutually exclusive, are they?
I think that’s a much better idea than what they are doing now. They’d randomize the items for sale but people could buy exactly the item they want, rather than buying a randomized item without knowing exactly what they will get.
The latter is considered ‘gambling’, which is why selling loot boxes is so controversial.
1 in 8 chance is pretty high, and unless these SKINs from these boxes are auto-injected, they will tank the YC121 SKIN prices for SoE ships, the original poster is right about that. The only question is how much exactly are they gonna tank them (which is dependent on how many are ‘‘bought’’). Down to 2b maybe? 500m? Or 10m? But they will tank now.
The probability of getting YC121 SKINs is so high that I will be buying some of those crates myself, and I will be doing it ASAP before they are completely devalued.
How did you, in the first place, even come to believe that the value of your digital beanie baby collection was guaranteed?
I don’t love the lootbox distribution mechanism, but the idea that CCP is obliged to keep an item eternally rare simply because you decided to invest in it is infantile.
The Yoiul Festival YC121 ship skin is 1 of 8 different skins that might be in the box… Disregarding the fact that there’s 3 different SOE hull class for that skin, there’s only a 4.16% chance of getting one of those 8 skins…
And thanks to @Spacetramp_Drago for mentioning Markee Dragon, I checked his web site which states:
Each crate contains 1 of 24 possible SKINs. This means there is a 4.16% chance for you to get any single specific SKIN from the list.
As for the skins auto-injecting…
Gratz on pulling one of the listed skins… Was that the SOE Eve Online Level 1 Mastery Pack for $10 ?
No one should feel sorry for old players who got all the cool stuff back then, if that means keeping cool stuff from newer players. In fact, personally I feel that a lot of the old stuff should be seeded again because there are some cool things in there including some old skins that could/would entice newer players to commit and invest.
Right now they could look at a ship, see it has 10 skins but only 2 of them are for sale, at 100s of millions or more and the others simply aren’t available. All they wanted was a cool green skin for their Merlin and when we have to explain to him that “you’re too late, no it’s not a special skin but you just can’t get it any more” is discouraging AF, in a “we can never catch up” kind of way but this time for real.
Doesn’t mean this should be done for ALL skins or items, of course.
But you can’t disregard the fact that there are 3 of those SKINs in the crate. 3 of 24, or 1 of 8.
They’re all high-value SKINs, and pretty much the only ones you’d want to get out of there. The chance of getting at least 1 of those 3 SKINs is, in fact, 12.5%. Or 4.16% + 416% + 4.16%. You only need to buy 10 crates, to confidently get at least 1 of them.
Let’s look at where the market was at before the crates:
Astero YC121 was being sold for 29b on the market before these crates.
Stratios YC121 at 26b, before crates.
Nestor YC121 at 10b, before the crates.
Now, go and look at the market now. The prices have already tanked.
Astero YC121 has dropped to 10b (from 29b when I checked a couple of hours ago).
Stratios YC121 has dropped to 14b from 26b (again, I checked just 2 hours ago).
Nestor YC121 has dropped to 4.9b from 10b.
Astero: 5 SKINs sold today.
Stratios: 4 SKINs sold today.
Nestor: 4 SKINs sold today.
It’s obvious the supply for these is gonna be greatly increased after today. All these 3 are gonna tank to rock bottom. If anybody is still holding on to these SKINs now is the time to dump them. And by ‘now’ I mean within 24 hours before they cost 100k.
Each box contains 1 of 8 different types of skins from that list… Out of those 8 different types of skins, there’s 3 different hull class for each skin which means each box will contain 1 out of 24 different ship skins…
And they all won’t be the Yoiul Festival YC121 ship skin, that’s only one of the different types available from that list …
Anyway, they’ll have minimal effect on the market since those skins auto-inject…
And it is correct that the probability to get any single specific SKIN out of the crate is 4.16%.
But the probability to get any one of YC121 SKINs is 12.5%. Because YC121 is not 1 of 24, but 1 of 8.
This is basic high school math. I don’t want to have to tell you to go back to high school, but if you can’t understand this, you need to finish high school first.
To get Astero YC121 –> 4.16%.
To get Stratios YC121 –> 4.16%.
To get Nestor YC121 –> 4.16%.
To get 1 of 3 YC121 SKINs –> 12.5%.
Then why is the market tanking? If these are injectable, then there is absolutely 0 threat to YC121 prices. Yet, they are dropping. From what I understood Spacetramp wasn’t talking about SoE crates, but a different loot crate which had injectable SKINs. Someone who actually has hacked one of these Historic SoE crates (I haven’t) should confirm whether they drop to hangar or inject.
This will only affect SoE YC121 SKINs. The other YC121 SKINs will still be ludicrously priced at the moment. Sleipnir YC121 is selling for 90b, but you can’t get that out of this crate.
As for the Market, it’s a kneejerk reaction to seeing / hearing about the SOE ship skin sale offer… Basically players are trying to sell their stuff thinking there’s going to be a big influx of skins to compete with in the Market…
I checked and there’s various game packs available, some of the pack names start with SOE which are the ones that include the SOE ship skin loot box… Spacetramp Drago said he bought the cheapest pack available ($10.00) and got the SOE loot box with it, opened it and luckily got the Yoiul Festival YC121 Stratios skin which unfortunately auto-injected…
That’s all I need to hear and quite frankly, I believe it…
