That is not an answer to my question, it is a deflection.
Once again, what is my agenda?
That is not an answer to my question, it is a deflection.
Once again, what is my agenda?
YOU are accusing ME of that?
That’s funny…
Don’t expect any more answers today…real life…
And no, that’s no pull back from the discussion, it’s unavoidable(you see how well i i know you? :-)…
Fine, if you don’t think it was a deflection, answer the question. It was a simple one.
I’m not asking whether you think I have an agenda. I’m asking what you believe that agenda is.
Apparently you have some insight into my motivations that I, the person supposedly having them, lack. I’d be fascinated to hear what they are.
Utter nonsense. Nobody changes things just for the sake of it, under some misguided delusion that ‘change is good’.
Neither do sensible companies make major changes in the vague expectation of more profit, when they already are making a profit. The old tale of the goose that laid the golden egg is very appropriate.
There’s no guarantee that changes are going to create sustainable extra profit, because nobody really knows how customers are going to respond. For example, making EVE more safe might seem to attract more people…but making EVE safer also makes it more boring, which will deter some people. And its not simply a matter of percentage value of each, because they are not independent but intersubjective.
You keep citing some ‘25%’ who are the only ones who do PvP. But they are also the ones that do the very destruction that keeps the EVE economy going…and without whom mining and trading become pointless as value is based on scarcity.
Forgetting that is how one kills the goose and has no more golden eggs. I cite Eve Echoes as Exhibit A.
He’s almost certainly using a really narrow definition of PvP too - one that only involves the unscheduled disassembly of ships.
Indeed. Think of all the ore that a miner is missing out on because someone else’s Orca is sucking up the entire belt. That ore has a value every bit as much as any ship blown up. It is every bit as much PvP. When’s the last time we had a ‘Someone Else’s Orca Is Stealing My Belt !’ thread ranting about asteroid PvP ?
( actually I have once seen such a thread, quite a long time ago )
Because you have nothing to add in any way, shape, manor or form. ![]()
I didn’t think Orcas really “sucked up” much.
Thats just a figure of speech.
I think the example given is based on that everything in the game has a pvp basis behind it. I agree with the description.
I mean, coming from you, obviously it goes without saying.

totaltrue ?
Because miners are not mining fluffy bunnies in space. They are mining the core materials that facilitate the creation of combat ships. You can’t run a munitions factory and claim that war has nothing to do with you. You can’t mine the very materials that make a Catalyst and then express outrage when half a dozen of them show up and destroy you. It is actually quite poetic karma !
AIUI this is the percentage of people who answered a CCP survey and answered the question
Do you play EvE for:
as “The PvP”.
Without the other values and some idea of the number and spread of participants in the survey it is, of course, entirely meaningless.
Yeah, how to defend you and friends you need to have a ganker mind to know how they will attack…
it’s a hard thing to learn, alone, almost impossible.
Ah, to gank properly you have to do the ‘Monad call’ to James315 and his progeny and then raise the Archonic vibrations inherent within all Catalysts to 410mhz whilst reciting ‘I am the Walrus’ backwards. My NDA with Safety prevents me elucidating further.

and this is the defining paragraph of this game from the Wikipedia ( Internet’s Encyclopedia )
Eve Online (stylised EVE Online) is a space-based, persistent-world massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Fenris Creations. Players of Eve Online can participate in a number of in-game professions and activities, including mining, piracy, manufacturing, trading, exploration, and combat (both player versus environment (PVE) and player versus player (PVP)). The game contains a total of 7,800 star systems that can be visited by players.
Take note of the description, how PVP comes in there dead last? Almost as an after thought. I imagine according your train of thought it was written by some filthy miner?
I guess none of this really matters anymore, you and others I have spoken with in game and on these forums have been very convincing with your “maybe this isn’t the game for you” okay I somewhat agree. I am folding up my PI farms and my omega runs dry and I won’t buy in September. I was spending too much on my game budget anyway and this is where I trim the fat. This is not where I rage quit, I will be back to spend this isk I made on ships, I can and will sell those omega only items off and give away. If I can use the isk I make to get plex, then my omega will get paid by some other sucker.
Be proud, you have opened my eyes, and made me a FREE to play EVE Online player.
Thank you!
