The Hypocrisy Of The 'I Hate PvP' Miners

Miners can’t control what the ore they sell gets used for, that’s simply an unreasonable take.

That entirely depends on the situation. And, most important, it is nothing that anyone is obligated to or anyone can reasonably expect. If you end up in the crosshairs and lose that engagement, you are at the mercy of your opponent. That has to be accepted. If he wants to talk, fine. If not, die without begging or whining. Accept the loss as part of a lesson that reminds you to be more careful next time.

I have killed people I caught, I have ransomed people I tackled successfully, I have let people go and established good relations to them if I thought that is the appropriate decision in that situation. I even allowed groups of newbros to safely farm in my wormhole and killed the NPCs for them when I was in the mood.

But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t mercilessly kill anyone who isn’t quick enough to escape my grip in any other situation. That doesn’t make me a “bad person” or “griefing player”. I am pretty relaxed when it comes to PvP. But I can’t stand whining and entitlement. Everyone undocking knows he might be a target from the moment someone else spots him, be it in HS, LS, NS or anywhere else. It’s your job as a pilot to make sure you can handle the situations you stick your nose in, and if you can’t learn from your losses.

I couldnt give two rat poops what anyone that buys my ore uses it for. In the end, its your isk in my pocket.

Thats all i care about.

:rose:

Like me who slaughters sheep like you!

I explained after their loss. Just how the game works kid. After that and if they were civil and not snot nosed children who expected an award for just showing up, might even get paid 3 times their loss with a long chat as to how to avoid the likes of me again. You should try making an effort at the game, you would get much further.

This was always my experience. There were the few sour apples that would kill, spread a little smack, and move on. I would never reply to them. Most of the folks that would catch me would invite me to a convo and be an honorable player about it.

None of them ever slid me any isk…but i dont think i ever worried about isk anyway. I knew early on how to earn it easily.

What a cop out. Its not like the ore is ever likely to be used to manufacture fluffy bunnies. Its ONLY end point is ships…and 90% of the ships in EVE are combat ships.

Even more to the point…miners rely on destruction for their ore to have value. There needs to be destruction for new ships to be required and thus for mining itself to have any worth.

Miners pretending they can just ‘chill out in space’ and all the carnage in EVE has nothing to do with them are just hypocrites.

I’m sorry but doesn’t make this killing them…hm…contraproductive?

It’s more like cutting your own flesh and just the knife differs…

Uta, you are so close to inventing the mining permit! You see, we do not indiscriminately extirpate unto the miners, but rather we apply the standards of LAW and ORDER. Those who purchase a mining permit are allowed to continue in servitude unto their PvP masters, and those who refuse are burnt as an offering unto me.

Me chillin while mining. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, its such a lovely war tonight.

:rose:

It’s a good way to calm a player down after a loss as long as they respond reasonably. I expect anger and can work with that so well worth the isk. At that point a chat starts.

A successful player can afford to teach to those who want to learn. And I have found most do. Our corp would take in players who asked questions instead of whining. How we got some really good players in the long run. Bad apples, sure. But most are willing to help if they are willing to make the effort.

Where you went wrong was in sending them isk, that will only attract lowlifes, mercenaries, and beggars. Instead what I do is charge them isk, those who pay are encouraged to continue doing so, and those with unbroken and unblemished faith may receive divine enlightenment.

Au contraire. Trust me, not all got paid!

Edit; Actually, not that many.

What a surprise. Another attack against players not associated with low-PVP-skill pilots. Those players who choose to be constructive with their time instead of destructive. Eve Online requires a healthy balance of combat and industry pilots. Why attack productive members of the game at every opportunity? Grant them peace somewhere, even if only on this forum.

No one is attacking miners in general, just those who claim they are somehow owed a peaceful time. If you don’t want others to be able to affect your gameplay, there are tons of other games you can do that in.

Miners don’t rely on destruction, whether there is a lot of destruction or not, miners be mining. So it’d not hypocritical. Why are you so mad about this lol.

Yeah fair, I am just trying to understand why this guy even cares ^^

As a miner I want to get paid for mining.

And to get paid, minerals need to be in demand. And for minerals to be in demand, there needs to be a healthy amount of destruction so that the ship market isn’t saturated in order for it to be worth building new ships.

Miners rely on destruction.

Some people may be in it solely for shooting rocks with pretty lasers. I too could do that from time to time, but it would be a pointless exercise if ore wasn’t worth anything.

I play both side, miner & industrialist with one toon and doing pvp with another toon.

As as miner, I don’t mind being the guy with the target in the back, I myself sometimes chase miners with my pvp toon. That is just part of the game. And I know as a miner that a hulk or mack destroyed is a new opportunity for me or another industrialist to sell a new one.

You just have to play smart and avoid being the miner killed. I’m not perfect, I lost mining barges like everybody else sometimes because I wasn’t smart or wasn’t paying attention or sometimes because I had bad luck. The advantage of also being a producer is that you can replace your lost mining barges at a lower price.

No hard feeling, you need 50 catalysts to try to gang me? Give me a good price and I will craft them for you

This is largely inaccurate.

Simply put, and as a few have already mentioned…and whether you believe it or not…we do rely on mass destruction. It has to be that way. The math wont math without it.

I know for a fact that im an accessory to many fallen ships and pods…you are an accessory to many fallen ships and pods. You have to be. Without us, nothing will be rebuilt, no ships, no structures, nothing.

I dont know what your mining program is, either it be in ops, solo, or whatever. Do you put it straight on the market? Do you use a BB program from your corp? No matter the way you make your living, it all goes back to the mass production of war machines and assets and then gets destroyed, rebuilt, destroyed, and rebuilt.

Its the life cycle of the game. We miners are the beginning of this life cycle. We are accessories of all the crimes and mass destruction that occur.

That’s just a complete denial of reality. The value of ore is maintained by supply and demand. If there is no destruction, then ore stocks just accumulate as there is way less demand. Which in turn means the value of ore plummets.

It is therefore economically undeniable that miners rely on destruction. As Gerard Amatin says above…it would be pointless mining if ore wasn’t worth anything.

The whole point of this thread is that I really don’t think most miners even think about the full production cycle ecosystem and how reliant on destruction it is. That cycle literally IS Eve Online. But miners often act as if they were mining fluffy bunnies in space and the whole combat and ship destruction thing had nothing to do with them. It is time that perception was corrected.
