The Like and Get Likes thread III

End of the day, beginning of bed time. Nighties lovelies!

Also: let’s say you take celular automata Rule 30 and feed it to Game Of Life automata…

Each individual “cell” follows a few simple rules based on the cells and resources around it, and this consistently leads to impredictable patterns of order. The triangular patterns are typical of Rule 30, whereas Game of Life rules generate things like “floaters” (bunches of cells moving in a straight line).

After watching the ISS live and flying over China, North Korea and the Sahalin islands in Russia, I’m going to bed. Over China it passed close to Wuhan and over Russia it passed close to Vladivostok, but I didn’t see anyhting. I think it’s quite overcast and can only see clouds. And now I go to sleep, somewhat relaxed. Nighties lovelies!

Also: this is also relaxing… in a horrifying way

Seriously children. Don’t do this at home. Don’t even let an adult do this at home. Neither let the neighbor do this at his home, for the matter. Unless you bought shares from the company feeding electricity to this guy, then please melt stuff with 1,000 amperes at your heart’s content.

(I think he mentioned the transformer output to be 2 volts, 1000 amps? That would be 2,000 watts, it’s not that much actually…)

Time to go to sleep. Tomorrow there willbe some wokr on the power lines in my street and the whole block will suffer power outages along the day. Will be a bad day to use the elevator…

Nighties lovelies!

Also: those days when a computer goes wrong aboard your Hubble space telescope and turning it off and on won’t fix the issue…

https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2021/operations-underway-to-restore-payload-computer-on-nasas-hubble-space-telescope

The rogue computer is the Payload Computer, which handles and controls the isntruments, so the HST is flying normally but can’t do any work for the time being, until NASA figures/finds what’s wrong and puts the system back online.
