Some while ago I learned that sparrows are missing form cities because they’ve become too clean for them; not only there’s a lack of food on the streets, but sparrow chicks need a very specific kind of proteins which the parents usually get from maggots and other invertebrates that feast on decaying food, which is notoriously absent from modern cities
