The like and get likes thread

They can use GPS data for that for people that have it explicitely enabled.
Gathering cell phone location data at all times and in a way that can not be turned off is helping no one but Google building a more precise ad profile of the user.

Disclaimer: I don’t and not ever will use any Google services, I don’t, nor do I ever want to, own a Smartphone and most of the times I don’t carry my dumb (very, very, very dumb) phone around.

And no, people don’t assess. For them to be able to assess anything, they would have to be aware of the implications and honestly most people are just too stupid for that. Neither security nor privacy are selling points for phones. People simply do not care at all. Maybe they’ll start noticing where they ■■■■■■ up so hard when we all have to live in a oppressive Orwellian Mass Surveillance world, although I doubt it because they’d mostly likely be too stupid to notice.

That won’t ship before January 2019 at the earliest and I honestly wouldn’t call that a phone anymore. It’s a mobile desktop computer replacement.

Ha! The helmet designs. :joy:

What a shame we could not customize our faces, like here in EVE. Warframe have it.

That video is just a reason of why VR shoud be burned in a stake. Also 3D chats. Also voice comms in 3D chats. I mean, just burn it all in a stake. But first, stab it in the heart. Twice.

It’s not that bad! Think of it this way, the VR community is still not being pestered by ponies!

Latest review for CCP at Glassdoor…

https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-CCP-RVW17856823.htm

“Consider, but beware dragons”
Former Employee - Programmer in Reykjavík (Iceland)
Doesn’t Recommend
Negative Outlook
Disapproves of CEO

I worked at CCP full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

CCP is a relaxing place, casual work, and it’s fun! People are nice, food is good, and if you love-love-love Iceland things are looking up.

Cons

But CCP Is also static, stuck in its ways, it has a product that is successful but is incapable of transferring that success to other areas. They tried VR, and then pull out completely. They try huge offices in other countries, and then pull out completely. It is not a place of agile, modern development, it is a place of 10+ years of spaghetti code and processes that just aren’t moving fast enough.

Also, you better really love Iceland. Be sure to your partner does too!, too often a partner left at home with nothing to do was the cause for losing someone. Remember you’ll have access to hundreds of instant friends via your colleagues, but what will your partner do? Iceland is a tiny culture and finding a meaningful job can be beyond difficult.

Advice to Management

Really manage the company instead of letting projects float around. Don’t put people in charge just because they’re Icelandic, be sure they are powerful visionaries and strong managers. Inject energy into the core product.

There’s nothing really new compared to historic reviews, CCP doesn’t really changes that much.

Aand, enough for me today! Nighties lovelies!

The projects now have even more potential to float around as the development is in part in other companies. As for hiring icelandic people in charge, what can be done if CEO is Icelandic?

Its like with CD Projekt, only success in the case of CD Projekt is they crunched beyond belief with every Witcher and people were crunching for years on Witcher 3, fixing broken stuff. :scream:

CCP is like, we dont care, its out buggy or not, features broken or not, matchmaking broken or not, tested or not, completed or not.

Timezone everyone :smile:/
