The like and get likes thread

Good morning LAGLers!

Yesterday we saw the gallery for Batman Ninja. Today I bring the trailer. Seriously, it’s not a joke. It’s a DC sponsored production. The rest is just…

WTF/0= ∞ WTF

There was also japanese version of Spiderman. The story was completely different. It was a series with real actors. They just make things for a japanese audience.

Yeah Yeah Yeah WOW! :joy:

Well I just got an email saying that Comcast is increasing my internet speed from 75 Mbit to 100 Mbit for free due to system upgrades in the area. Thats nice and all but im sure they will raise the price as soon my contract is over.

75/100 Mbit? Well, our weather may not be as warm as Florida’s, but here 300/600 assymmetric or 600/600 symmetrical are the deal. Anyway I had to get a second mobile line (which I don’t use) when they upgraded my contract to 600/600 symmetrical else they were finishing my bonus. Obviously keeping my 300/600 without the bonus was not an option.

75/10 advertised right now with actual provisioned speeds of 90/11
will go up to 120/30 actual provisioned speeds

I believe they are now offering gigabit but I don’t even want to know the price of that. I wish there was a fiber provider in my small town but there is not and will likely never be one unless Comcast upgrades to it. Only other hardwired option for me is DSL at 10Mbit or 20Mbit if you are lucky enough to get bonded service.

And now here is something really crazy but not entirely surprising to me. My uncle owns and operates a land clearing and excavating company and he’s told me stories about when a copper phone line gets cut on a last mile circuit they don’t give ■■■■ and wait to repair it or don’t repair it at all.

“Customer Service” is the least amount of money you can spend in fulfilling your contract and get away with it…

Boo, its too bad there are no other isp in the area for you. I managed to get a nice one that does not do contract. I have found that they will lower the price on a new deal if I call in and say I wish to cancel because I can no longer afford the fee. They would rather give me a new deal than lose me as a customer.

Here is a joke before I go to bed:
A man buys a parrot and after bringing it home, he discovers it has the filthiest mouth. It constantly swears, racial epithets, dirty jokes, the whole lot! It embarrasses the man to no end. He keeps trying to train the bird, but it doesn’t listen, just cackles back at him.
In a rage, he finally throws the bird in the freezer and closes the door. The bird squawks once, then goes very quiet. The man waits a minute, then opens the door. The bird looks sorry, so he puts it back in the cage.
“I’m terribly sorry for my earlier behavior, I assure you that I won’t be speaking as such anymore,” the bird apologizes. “On a related note, what did the chicken do?”

Also: try to start up your car after 37 years… well, NASA just used Voyager 1’s backup thrusters for the first time in 37 years, and they did the job to keep the probe aligned so we can contact it through 21 billion kilometers and 19 hours and 35 minutes of lightspeed transmission. That’s gonna extend its mission for another two or three years.

Good morning LAGLers!

Tdoay I’ve been puzzled by an Amazon advertisement with a story about a little girl who is left handed and didn’t feel comfortable using right-handed scissors, so the left-handed scissors bought on Amazon by her mom solved her insecurities.

Inmediately I’ve browsed WTF are left handed scissors and why should they exist at all, and have run into a series of explanations on how the fingers and thumb twist the blades in a slight way that presses one blade against other, whereas left handed people twist and push them in the wrong direction, splitting the blades apart.

Then I’ve checked my scissors with my left hand and found no difference other than the little extra dififculty to coordinate eyes and the wrong hand. I’ve cut paper and medication blisters, no difference. Also I’ve tried to actively push the blades together or apart as per the explanations, and they haven’t moved at all.

My home scissors are from a reputable manufacturer, costed me some 15 euros and are built very solidly. Probably that helps.

Conclussion: good quality scissors are ambidextrous. Only cheap, poorly built scissors may have an issue depending on how your hand presses them. If you’re left handed and your scissors don’t work well… buy better ones.
