Dodging shots from heavy ships is SO satisfying… one of the easy tricks to destroy the Xenon bases was to get their heavies shoot you and miss you but hit the base. There was a spot where they would keep firing even as all the base was between you and them… abusing AI could be so fun! 
I too recall that you could capture a Xenon fighter (Xenon K? Xenon J?) by making its pilot “bail out”. Was an awesome crate to fly, although it toook several tries to find the sweet spot where the AI would “bail” the ship. Popped quite a few before capturing the first one, and moving it to a safe station was a heart pumping thing because it was quite in poor shape.
Turns out we have a game at 7pm. So its off to bed early. Wooohooo!
