The new EVE Online launcher Beta

How to attach screenshots to the bug report today?

For now i Would prefer 2 options.

1 - to have the fast logout / login buttons back
2 - or to have the old client work with the new one
3 - Prob the Best, Have the option to have the account section work like the old in settings, while keeping the new launch group button, Very much good job with that to log into accounts fully.

But i really miss the simple buttons / look of , and the fact it was more compact, If you could have a checkbox to have the old style where the new characters are 10/10, and i say checkbox as i think 50/50 of people would like either

Or Just a Exit all button would work, something faster than the click on the account to see the stop button in the individual account window

such as to the right of this a big stop all button

Also appears to be no way to make a new client profile with the new launcher, just pick what you had in the past

Profile creation experience is less than obvious.
Start typing a new name and a “Save” option should pop up.

The launcher installation path is also wrong even if we accept the unfortunate idea that it should be installed into user’s profile.
Instead of %LocalAppData%\CCP\…something it is dumped right into %LocalAppData%\eve-online.

-1: Two clicks instead of one to run a launch group.
-1: No delay between clients startup.

  1. I created accounts with uppercase (big) letters. 2. In the old launcher, accounts were also displayed in capital (big) letters. WHY are the letters small in the new launch system? Big you made only the first letter in the account and the number zero in the middle of the account name !!! What do you think it looks good ??? New account type G.l.0.c.k The old account view I want to see: G.L.0.C.K

Cache wiped on all accounts.

Settings, overview everything reset to default. All for being a bit curious about your new launcher.

0/10 would not reccomend

That was launching via old client, and now the new one cant even start the game.

“Launch” does nothing at all.

I’m not touching this with the proverbial ultralong pole, but the direct-to-character launch functionality seems great!

I know y’all have absolutely no power to remove (or let us hide) the ads/news, or to reduce the pointless padding and whatnot so the launcher might be smashed down to a reasonable (let alone minimalistic and dockable) size. But yes, it’s awfully chonky, as with much of Photon in the client itself.

Your work is very nice aesthetically, but I’d very strongly prefer a lifeless spreadsheet with columns for accounts and characters, arbitrarily-many checkbox columns for launch groups, and a notes column. And a launch button (or arbitrarily-many buttons). A nerd knows that’s an impossibility, but a nerd still wishes…

I’ve seen this mentioned several times already; I’m just lending my voice to this request:

Consider giving the launcher a function which copies all the window positions & settings, game settings, shortcuts, etc. from a specified character to all other characters (or to a specified subset of all other characters). A facility to specify which settings get copied would be a nice bonus, but isn’t strictly necessary.

There are at least four standalone programs that address this issue, all in various states of maintenance & usefulness. This functionality has been widely-desired for years, as a quick web search will reveal. It’s a bit frustrating that we must trust (flaky) 3rd-party apps for it.

https://github.com/mintnick/eve-settings-manager

Surely it’d be a smart move business-wise? Y’all explicitly encourage multiboxing and directly advertise to those of us who do it. Making setup less of a pain in the b’toot seems a no-brainer.

Another request: make the credential longevity of accounts added to the launcher, oh, perhaps an order of magnitude longer. Many of us don’t log into or even sub many accounts for long periods of time. The tedium of re-authing every dang account I have a notion to log into is, for me at least, often enough of a deterrent that I simply won’t bother.

I know this seems petty, but the choice between re-authing ten accounts to continue [not especially pressing EVE project #13] and playing any of a squillion other games which offer instant access… is not much of a choice, really. Those EVE accounts and characters will languish until I get a wild hair again in a few weeks… at which point I’ll probably make the same decision again.

:person_shrugging:

Remove pointless impediments to logging in.

I realize expiring tokens aren’t pointless per se, but if bads gain access to my PC, I’ll probably have more pressing concerns than illegitimate logins to my EVE accounts…

When will this be fixed? I do not need yet another broken software on my C partition. I want this launcher where it belongs: on my game partition, which is much faster than C and has the necessary space for all game related software.

Besides, other popular software like Irfan View, Firefox, VLC, Steam, Gog, Adobe software and othes allow me to not only choose where I want to install the software via advanced installation settings, it also allows me to choose where I want to store settings data and other aspects of the software.

Discord and Slack are examples for bad developer practices that remove useful choice and customizability in favor of hard drive clutter and toxic software spreading.

I don’t need a longer lifetime of the tokens as I play eve often enough… however, when I start the launcher I want it to update all stored tokens, not only the clients I am currently starting up.
At least the launcher could do something useful instead of just eating up precious resources to display ads

don’t forget Microsoft Teams, etc etc. They all work around the fact that software should need administrator control. they install in space where no priviliged account is needed, so malware can spread easier.

Helloo forum :grinning:

Thank you for the tip. Do you know which folder are the settings kept in? I would imagine it’s standard for EVE install?

How did you manage to achieve that?

In my case, I told it to change the game file directory, since it was going to download all 30gb all over again anyway. And then everything just-short-of-literally-exploded.

“How predictable”… also, quite easily recoverable.
Check %LocalAppData%\CCP\EVE for a directory named <your_old_shared_cache_location>_tq_tranquility and transfer all profiles you care about to your new profiles directory.

your_old_shared_cache_location is a lowercased path with all questionable characters replaced with underscore. In my case, c_games_eve_sharedcache_tq_tranquility for C:\Games\EVE\SharedCache.

So, to quote myself from 3 days ago…
