I’m not actually thinking about this at all and I’m not going to check, which I could, but that would be cheating. I am well aware that prices for minerals and likely ore spiked. I must assume that people are panicking and, right now, buying all kinds of ■■■■ up. That’s not a bad thing, you know? It’s quite a drastic change in behaviour and I’d actually love studying it.
We all know that the status quo isn’t going to be permanent. I mean, I’d hope we all knew, but apparently we don’t. People make this gigantic fuzz about something that’s going to be changing again in one months time, at least according to CCP.
Now that I’ve answered your question, please answer mine: Why are people behaving as if their life depended on mining? Their behaviour tells me that they’re all rather ■■■■■■ up and need to get a life. And no, they’re definitely not behaving like this because of all the people who depend on them. No, it’s clearly about themselves and them being able to mine insane amounts of isk mostly afk.
It gives me the feeling that they’re all actually really affected in real life. It’s as if they’re all RMTers crying about how their real life income got massively nerfed. It seems to me that it’s the most likely explanation for this absolutely bonkers behaviour.

Not entirely true. It is gross generalization. There are people that mine but not insane amounts of ore and not afk and yet they are concerned with the changes. I don’t find it ridiculous, strange, odd or abnormal.
