The odysseus needs to be able to fit compression modules and medium indy cores

Allow the Odysseus to fit a medium indy core, and associated compression modules, so it can actually function as a day-tripping ship. Gas/ore takes up a tremendous amount of space, and will realistically cut your “day trip” down to just a few hours if you’re using more than 2-3 accounts. Compression will help circumvent this.

Also, there’s little actual value in this change outside of the specific playstyle that the odysseus was designed for, with the exploration hold. A porpoise with compression is a 10th of the price, and just as efficient. It just adds an extra use to this ship that at the moment is somewhat of a glorified hangar queen.

If there needs to be an upside to using a 2.2b ship for a 200m purpose, you could reduce the cycle time of the indy core to 30 seconds, to compensate for the massive price discrepancy

it is an exploration ship, not an orca!

The Odysseus was designed as a nomadic exploration ship, not an industrial command ship. It’s already capable of exploration, combat, salvaging, and using a covert ops cloak.

Giving it compression and an industrial core starts stepping into the role of ships like the Porpoise, which were specifically designed for industrial support.

Just because you’re using multiple accounts and filling your hold faster doesn’t necessarily mean the ship needs additional capabilities.

There’s a reason we have specialized ships in EVE. Not every ship needs to be capable of doing everything, and I don’t see why the Odysseus should be an exception.

any ship is capable of exploration, combat and salvaging. these aren’t unique things to the odysseus, nor is the odysseus miles better at the latter two than any other random ship. It’s a nomadic exploration ship. It should be able to stay nomadic more than 2 hours without having to dock up.

agree to disagree

  • that is why there are haulers

nomadic doesn’t mean using alts lol.

if you dont have the skills to use a hauler than there is no hope for humanity

says who though? i’ve done months fully nomadic with multiple toons. Nomadic is significantly easier with multiple toons. trying to limit it to just a single toon is your definition, and isn’t realistic

FCCP designed the Odysseus for nomadic exploration. That doesn’t mean it was designed to accommodate multiple alts harvesting resources.

You’re free to play nomadically with as many characters as you want, but that doesn’t mean the ship needs additional capabilities to support your particular playstyle.

There’s a difference between what a ship was designed to do and what you want it to do.

My point is that the Odysseus doesn’t need to be balanced around someone using multiple accounts. If you’re filling its hold faster because you’re running several characters, that’s a consequence of how you’ve chosen to play, not necessarily a problem with the ship.

Being nomadic doesn’t mean you should have every capability available to you in one ship. That’s why specialized ships exist

and they already have one like that, it is called the primae

The Odysseus has a massive gas hold that will take a fair while to fill even with the Odysseus’ own high gas yield potential.

Even if you’re flying with a second character who pulls a Venture out of the SMB, which I think falls in the scope of the role of the Odysseus, you’re still taking a while to fill the expedition hold of 50k m3.

Only if you’re running a many-character industrial setup would you really need a compressor, at which point I recommend using a Porpoise instead for the stronger mining foreman bursts anyway.

No, I do not think the Odysseus should fill the role of an industrial command ship with on-board compressors when it is an expedition command ship instead. Get an industrial command ship if you want compression.

o.O

I find your lack of imagination disturbing.
