Which is amazing as I never played WoW and I don’t really care one way or the other about WoW. If they are successful…good for them. If they aren’t, that’s too bad. I don’t want to play WoW because I have no interest in that type of game.
Awesome…I am now the Great Troll. Everyone bow down to my superiority.
No not really we are just good at spotting Bravo Sierra being spouted by a NUB. But that’s okay, like I noted earlier if you wanted to get a PhD in PoMo English you just have to learn the buzzwrods and toss them in randomly…you’re a natural.
You sure seem to reply to me alot though for being the village idiot not knocking on doors. You do realize every time you do…I get a notification, right?
Yeah, rereading thread back i see it. On the first glance it looks very strange.
However… In my case i didn’t know WoW before i started playing EvE. Heard something about it but never wanted to take a look at it. And now i dislike WoW because of what i got here in EvE - forums, players around, etc… Does it lead to loving EvE? I dunno. Did it affect my wish to try other MMOs? Yes for sure.
Friend leaves EvE and invites me to play Star Treck (or was it something-Star Wars? not sure)? No, not enough risk!
Elite is getting ready to be played? I even bought it and still - played few hours and never started again. Reason: not enough risk (comparing to EvE).
So i can see something rational in posts of this guy. Marketing is a very strong magic!
Well, yeah, but I don’t believe this is entirely related to marketing. More to our enjoyment of features.
And it happens with every MMO. If you play an MMO, and happen to like it, you get used to it. So when you try other MMOs and they don’t offer you the same quality of features in a certain area, you don’t enjoy it. Had you started with that MMO instead and happened to like it, you would have disliked Eve.
Which is the reason why marketing works both ways: for every person that enjoys eve for its freedom or its complexity, there are 10 more that will never play it because they despise the idea they might get ganked/scammed or other and end up losing stuff they worked hard for.
The same reason you disliked Star Trek online is the same reason others dislike Eve.
Also I’m pretty sure every MMO forum is full of people disliking other MMOs, so you should take everything with a grain of salt.
