Yeah, the first couple of times it happens, it causes anger and adaptation.
After a couple more times, it causes resentment and disdain.
Eventually after decade+ of that happening, it causes bitterness, distrust and disinterest.
Find new things to do, reinvent yourself (one of the reasons I use a faceless posting alt, way too many characters and it shifts all the time). And donāt aim for things that are ovepowered now, because they will be nerfed tomorrowā¦ or soonā¢
Also, and this is a generalization, if your play styles mostly involve NPC or spreadsheets then you have a higher chance of running out of things to do as youāve done it all a thousand times, itās all obvious and fleshed out. If instead you focus on play styles that involve player interaction, in whatever way, then you tend to do better as people can still surprise you and itās more involved.
Good point; havenāt heard it stated like this beforeābut, I agree now that I have heard it. The $20 a month sub increase was a bad move- and if CCP was capable of being honest theyād probably admit it too. Remember when they had a dev come onto Discord while on vacation and tell us all about how we were going to have the biggest content drop in history at fanfest? Yeah we didnāt.
They intentionally kicked the criticism down the road with that and are silent now about it like it never even happened.
Monetizing our friendships and in-game connections? Yep. I do agreeā¦thatās what keeps most of us around moreover than the game itself.
The company sports the name Crowd Control Productions Games ā¦
I mean itās right there on the tin right? If you are reaching out for hope they have stated at Fanfest and on these forums that they are increasingly looking towards the individual. Iām not sure how I feel about that yet, but it might give you some hope.
wen i started to play the game was more brutal and more free
and had 0 NPC shenanigans
it was all player made
i like it more
Iām a bit bitter because of it
still think is the best space MMO
Wen talking about EVE online the 20 year question is , is there a better game? the answer is always , NO.
If one day the answer became YES them EVE may die
Itās not sunk cost. Itās the lack of alternatives. There is no game like EVE out there. If you want an MMO with space and spaceships and scifi and bigger battles and fancy graphics and building your own empire and so on, you are simply locked into EVE because itās the only game available. If there was another similar scifi MMO but with better development quality, EVE would be dead ā or be developed much better because CCP canāt exploit its monopoly.
I tried Albion for a few weeks, but the grind is just ridiculous and the action is just as far-flung and rare as in EVE.
Is there an article on heavily investing in an endeavor when you know from the beginning its costs outweigh the benefits?
Most of the game plays pretty much exactly as it has for 10 years.
Case in point. Miningās basically the same. Whatās stopping you from mining?
Maybe you. But my 600 pound diabetes-ridden body is perfectly healthy, thank you very much. Doctor says Ill live for at least 3 more years.
The official forum officially states my official status as an official Veteran right next to my name.
Yeah, if you make CCP Aurora mad, she can take it away.
I think that bitter vets exist more so because of the players themselves. Sure CCP has nerfed stuff and players have had to change tactics. But the players that are ahead of the curve IE market controllers and sov controllers have removed from the game what made it fun for them in the beginning.
It is far to hard for organizations to evolve naturally without bumping into an entity that has been in power for 5+ years. The most fun I have ever had is trying to start from scratch with a group of friends I have made in game. This all came to a sudden halt when trying to get into low or null and even eventually snuffed us out of high sec through camping and greefing by bored vets and their alt army with nothing better to do.
Bored vets that have already won the game is what has created bitter vets that have no sand to play with.
There are empty low sec systems all over the place. Just head out and start a life.
they are just arrogant
And have a super fleet on top of any assets within days, I think I will pass. Even in HS you try to set up a citadel, Leshak fleet incoming.
I remember the days of being able to set in null with a ragtag group and not be bothered for months easily recouping any investment and making profits before anyone was even aware of our existence.
what if they suffered so much that now they only have suffering to offer?
It depends entirely on what the ābenefitsā are. A person could sit there with a massive pile of ISK, yet feel they have achieved nothing, whilst another person could blow up a few frigates and feel that they have won Eve. This is why I can hate Eve one day and love it the nextā¦because the benefits are all in the mind.
Yeah your right, I forgot what I was thinking there for a minute. You should definitely not come to low sec, nothing but death and despair there.
Krabs =/= bitter vets.
