I want a jump clone. I have the skill and money, but my current location doesn’t have the facilities. I look at the map to see where I can find facilities. Clicking moons and gas giants and whatever over and over until I find a place with the services I want seems a little inefficient. Is there a faster way? Also, how do I know if these various structures are player-owned or NPC owned? I am in high-sec if that matters. I’m thinking that having my jump clone in a npc-owned facility might be a better idea for the long term. So many confusing markers on the map - is there a key/legend?
I’ve just returned after >10 years. Still re-learning how to walk. Have yet to undock for the first time. Any and all tips are appreciated!!
The Player-owned Structures can set their own clone installation cost and be cheaper than the 900k of NPC stations, but they will be unreliable for long term clone storage. You can recognise these EDENCOM structure icons by their ‘neutral’ space background:
NPC stations on the other hand will have the blue, green, yellow or red of the four NPC factions as background:
(Note: there also is a limited set of player-owned faction structures that also have these backgrounds so this method is not infallible, but you can recognise those various ways, the most obvious may be that you get tether when you land next to the structure.)
You can also filter out one or the other in the ‘Structure Type’ filter.
This article explains how to show them on the map where they get color highlighted. Makes it fairly easy to find the closest one: https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Jump_clones
Personally, I’ve never used a jump clone. You are looking for the “Clone Bay”. Its possible they will charge a fee too.
