I played that when I was like 9. Blizzard games, the Command and Conquer and Heroes of Might and Magic series games, and Duke Nukem were basically my first video games. Those were really good times.
The voice and music of this clip (basically original Diablo I stuff) is truly epic…
I remember the chill from this message with my name in it when I started playing… Only dying for the first time was a more chilling moment.
Great memories
Yep.
FW can get this in pairred war zones. One does not accidentally join FW lol. PIrate especially. You’d have to accidentally do that 16 ish jumps of low/null to even get to a angel/gurista station. 16 accidental jumps, accidentally living sya 2-3 smartboombs camps…is no accident.
Faction police are also slow. I’ve taken hi sec routes many times in FW. Don’t linger and all is well. The way I understand it you is you have to be stuck for a good while on mission or site to be found.
Doesn’t account for all ‘New Players’
Isn’t this ranting and complainging and should be locked already luls… But guess it is woke enough crying about nothing to actually qualify as a post.
GOD BLESS YOU. STAY STRAIGHT. DON’T TAKE THE MEDS!
What’s wrong with medicine?
Very true , which surprises me it’s still here , as many criminals will cry and complain it’s not fair other players see them coming .
You could see who was jumping the gate if you missed local
Because that is exactly what will happen to the venture when the ganker in question is me.
He better dock that thing back up or he will be terminated. Dozens of ventures did not get to see the message before I shot them, your friend is lucky.
Sounds like it’s just a ganker message
This sort of reaction is kind of funny to read, thanks for sharing.
If so then I’m also dumb. I must have seen that message a dozen times before noticing it wasn’t about me.
Like Dyver Phycad said, this is primarily a UI issue. The message pops up and goes away fast, so you mostly only catch the end of it saying “you will be terminated”. It should highlight the target player name and stay up long enough for that to register (to new players). Some UI elements should also have adjustable timers for how long (or even if) they appear - that would help also.
Maybe the way to resolve the issue is to let the navy NPCs attack everyone who is on grid and sees the message.
When the best thing you NPCs can find to argue about is this insignificant message after 20 years of it being in game, things must be going okay for CCP.
Because, damn! Y’all are scrapping the bottom of the barrel on this one.
Carry on.
Mr Epeen
I am disappointed to see this forum’s tendency to quickly react to any suggestion that something could work better by defending the status quo as if they new person’s idea scares and threatens them. There is nothing to be gained by defending a message box that is irrelevant to most.
Good products, including video games, are not built by defending the status quo of how they work today.
Since this is just code, it would be easy to code in some rules that the message only appears to the concerned party with an if-then to handle the condition of being in a fleet. Other rules would be just as easy to handle. This is not a heavy lift. In fact, it is most likely an oversight.
The fans of a dying game they love and wish to continue playing should not be shouting down feedback from newcomers. The game is dying for a reason.
It must change.
But it really isnt. Yes it warns you, the criminal, but for those not paying attention to local its an intel tooltip that says “hey a bad dude is here” and you can either watch for them, or hunt them. So no its not irrelevant to most
Doubt.
i get that message all the time , i just ignore it they rarely shoot at me or anyone.
but you (or your friend) run away when some text appears on screen ? really ?
If they are new players and their situational awareness isn’t up to eve standards then that’s probably the best move.
As they get more confident they will learn to look in local , learn to set people to red , and use d-scan .
After all eve is known as a brutal game and of course criminals will say oh it ok you don’t have to dock or hide or run.
Probably best not to listen to griefers , gankers and criminal types .
Wow, this is what the world is like now, not just in game, but out there, beyond your window, special people are very much like the OP, our species is doomed.
