This forum is brutal

78 posts in 2 hours. The OP certainly has stirred the pot and I agree whole-heartedly with them.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

  1. The people on this forum are only a fraction of the population of the game
  2. Most forum posters are bitter-vets and yes, have their dislikes and likes of certain people.
  3. Do not let anything on the forums affect your attitude in-game. There are plenty of nice people in-game.
  4. The PVP nature of the game tends to bleed into feelings and anger towards others.
  5. Use the forums for informational purposes only. Don’t post your opinions or feelings - you’ll get ripped to shreds.

My 2 cents.

O I see. Banter. Some posts really show hurt feelings though. Some post are so mean I wouldn’t be surprised the recipient of vitriol just quit participating in forum.
But then, how can discussion be possible and go on in a healthy manner if members are pushed out, never to return?

SADNESS, FEAR, DISGUST, ANGER!

Words, actions are reflecting the emotional state of people.

That is because people lose lots of cash and time in game.

That seems pretty rare. Most of the people that receive a lot of hate on these forums are actively encouraging that sort of reaction.

It’s okay, they’re only virtual shreds, lol

That I can understand. To invest time and money and then be told " this is the way it is, you don’t like it gtfo" can certainly be disheartening.

Free systems of Panorad declared independence from James a few year back now, had fun on your forums with it.

I’m not even in code lol just having fun

But yes.
Insults prevent discussion, by definition.

If a forum is dedicated to discussion, then it should forbid insults. And that’s actually the case, as written in the … EULA ? not sure.

TV isn’t real life. Your video exemple isn’t real life. Where I live, if people behave like that they just get shot.

The internet and game interactions differ from face to face interactions.

The only people i’ve seen insulted are people asking for it. No-one wants to argue with people asking to remove pvp or those who wear tinfoil hats.

It’s been my lifelong EVE dream that something I say on these forums would actually entice someone to take revenge against me in-game somehow, but it’s still never happened. Not even once.

Did receive a few real-life threats, though.

This forum is a game on it’s own, and only frequented by a tiny fraction of players. Even devs ignore it, if they can. Years ago it was a space to exchange knowledge, but now that all knowledge was shared a billion times, and rarely something new to discuss comes up, what remains are the debates which can never end. The forum end game.

Maybe and maybe not. We don’t know how many members have been pushed out never to return, do we?

But no-one could ever challenge such an elite pvper as you and live to tell the tale.

This is hard to argue with. Would you like me to try?

I’m sure iv’e heard this mantra before, you should join the Eve sub-reddit see what they think about all of this.
