I think mining is toxic, and drives new players away.
To an extent yes. It has been heavily advertised as one of the key gameplay elements, but new players can only see minuscule ISK from it, get ganked while doing it and quit. Or they simply get bored long before they experience real mining fleets.
So if mining is toxic, isn’t ganking miners good for the game?

Read it again. Both mechanics are part of the problem.
I think ganking is fine, that’s just my opinion.
It could use a buff tho, to help kill more miners.
And what about the uproar from players when the MPI spiked? If ore increases in price, so will ships and modules. I personally think mining prices are fine how it is, I like having cheap Battleships.

Of course. You are 100% correct. I’m not saying that the ore should be more expensive. I’m saying that mining shouldn’t be advertised so heavily as a key feature, only to leave new players who try it disappointed.
New players, regardless of the value of the ore especially in highsec, simply do not have skills, effective fleets or access to higher end ores to earn much. Their focus should be on something more suitable and interesting to new players.

That’s a step in the right direction, but it takes time and knowledge about the game to get to the point where you discover Venture gas huffing and figure out when, how and where to do it. Not everyone gets to that.
