Players can PVP and PVE into the new/old galaxy as stargates are built and new regions open up!
1.New currency (not interchangeable with PLEX or ISK at all)
2.Very limited new stations and systems, perhaps 4-6 highsec systems, 5-10 low sec and 20 nullsec.
3. Very difficult to bring assets across from new eden (possibly only Frigates are allow to start with) OR EVEN… New ships altogether! You can only bring a pod!
4. New Eden keeps running and rich older players stay rich but the new galaxy regions put old and new players on level pegging’s! No more trillionaires vs new bros.
5. New galaxy = massive new cash cow for CCP in regards to new currency.
Nooo. After 4 years in EVE I’ve paid for my skills, ISK, ships, etc. A rite of passage. Why on earth would I want all that scrapped and be on par with noobs ? We all go through being a noob…its not like any of us older players skipped that bit.
First I cannot speak for “everyone” and your title suggests you know the hearts and minds of all players.
I am not against new currency, but I am sure people here are somewhat currency saturated at this point. Some CEOs cannot spend the corporate evermarks they now own.
They have new systems, I haven’t even been to most of them. I have lived in a wormhole, explored some null sec. But I am more or less content with the vast galaxy we do have.
This part sounds to me ( sorry, if I am wrong ) like you want Eve 2.0 placed with easy access to Eve 1.0. They could just make Eve 2.0, however it is the cost of R&D that is draining revenues 45 Million in new projects and they only make under 60 Million. By the time they pay out employees and operating costs, they running -5 Million.
I am an alpha billionaire with enough ISK to buy PLEX and go omega, should I desire, this is not my goal to be ISK rich. If anyone wants to be a billionaire, all they really need to do is focus on the goal. It is not all that difficult. I don’t see much point to becoming a trillionaire. I know it would take an alpha several decades. If you want to be a trillionaire you must buy omega. Omega opens up new revenues.
Nope. New project increases R&D budget to 55 million. Company now 15 million n the red. CCP needs to quickly finish or abandon those projects. Reducing the R&D department or capping R&D at 50% of revenues would be my solution.
It’s funny how people never think beyond their own nose. That “new galaxy” will stop being new within 1-2 weeks and will be governed by the exact same groups that govern null/WH/Pochven space right now. Nothing changes.
It’s like in Dune Awakening (which is really good btw), the progression there is tier based up to t6 but T6 gear is only available in the deep desert which was mostly PVP. Now there is no reason to have T6 because you can do everything with T5 and it’s excessively expensive to build and maintain anyway.
But do as people do so they rushed to the “limit” (T5) to then cry about how they can’t get T6 (they can) and there’s so little to do. The devs changed it so now that a bigger part of that zone in PVE, and that results in people rushing in getting T6 which will take them exactly 2 days and then they maxed that out, and then what?
That statement is more likely true on the fact, CEOs are seldom coders themselves. Since the game is over 20 years old, I assume all the company has done, is to play keep up with the newest Windows API. Most of this “new” stuff has more to do with 2D graphical department and enhanced Direct X calls. Making a new system would be more about the database than actual code.
New programmers working on the client are less likely to do more than they are told. I would be amazed to see a new programmer do anything they were not paid to fix. I know I was always looking for coding bugs, back in my day we gave 110%.
I also assume this is another thread related to the impending doom sale of CCP rumor. Another player worried the game will vastly change, if or when the company is sold off. I have already expressed my opinion about the rumor elsewhere. Don’t panic.
So basically, you want to recreate the european exodus to America within EVE Online. My initial gut reaction was “ugh, terrible idea” because your proposal is not well thought out (in my opinion), there are too many holes and you are underestimating the currently existing powers.
But actually, there is one cool thing we could do with that.
See, I brainstormed about that proposal for about 10 minutes and remembered that the Jove Empire exists. That’s a piece of the lore that I think could get people interested, and introducing them via a mysterious wormhole that only your pod could pass through, would allow for some conditions to be met, for example a new currency, isolated system, learned skills equalizer (as far as is possible at least) and import / export ban period.
So, what could the jovians want from you? We could say, since apparently they are susceptible to a mysterious psychological disease, that there is this powerful enemy faction that is actively spreading it, and they have no means to avoid it. It turns out that you are immune, and so they conscript you into their service. As you prove your loyalty, you gain access to more of the Jove’s arsenal. And maaaybe if you have like astronomicaly high standing, you can take one of their ships with you to the old galaxy, where it is substantially more powerful than the empire counterparts.
I mean you could flesh this out significantly. Not that it will really matter because CCP would rather dump 45 million dollars into the next shooter that will definitely 100% not flop this time (fingers crossed). But if anyone ever buys the company and reads this, maybe that’s an idea that could be of vague interest to you.
Sounds just like another “What if, we get a fresh start for Eve” to me. These suggestions pop up 1- 2 times a year, dressed in various clothes. This one here is the most recent iteration.
While eve may have its weakness(es) most players like the games for what it is, even
with these weaknesses (skill system, wealth distribution - to name a few).
Just wait until PA has successfully sold the game, then you will get either a new game,
with a lot of ways to spend money on to keep the edge, or none at all.
the new owner will rather monetize the IP, than to spend millions to develop a niche game like this.
I’d be happy to see this happen, but have all NPC ships be thousands of years ahead of us in technology which means that all of the NPC ships would be hostile and unbeatable. Anyone who slips into the Eve Gate will be destroyed almost instantly.
Thats the usual approch. Asking to make everyone „equal“.
Players are not equal. They will never be equal. Some have more time to
Play and amass more weLth and experience, other are just smarter, to
Others apply a combination of that.
Even if everyone is being made „equal“… how will you keep them that way - equal ?
In 2003 every one had the same start - sort of, the diversity in time, talent, iq
And even luck kicked in….
And being „equal“ was never the intention of EVE. Rumors say, EVE stands for
Everyone Versus Everyone. A concept that includes some perform better than
Others. I know, a concept of a bygone era.
But believe me „Equals vs. Equals“ will become boring very soon.
Yeah and thats the point where the suggestion always fails.
The existing powers will just flood the new area with characters, either existing ones or freshly made Alts just for this purpose. Whatever is interesting and/or lucrative there will be totally dominated and denied to others. To the point where this new area has the same established power structure as the existing universe: Noobs and independents can do nothing there, the existing powers can do whatever they want and exploit all the opportunities to the max.
And there is no single way to prevent that. Do you understand that?
The EVE gate is a lesson. And a warning. Humanity is not to uproot the order of the cosmos.
Ponder the significance of the naming convention. “Eve”. “New Eden”.
These stem from the biblical tale of the very first humans that were created. “Eve” took of the forbidden fruit, and in sharing with “Adam”, incurred the great wrath of the creator and both were forever banished from the garden “Eden”. Thus, humanity was now fated to suffer.
These naming conventions are not a coincidence. Humanity sought to become greater than the cosmos itself. The forbidden fruit, was the EVE stargate. And eventually, calamity struck and the paradise was no more. It was plunged into endless strife, and even now, humanity suffers.
The EVE stargate thus, will NEVER open. Its ruins, a spectacular display of radiant light and energy, is in truth a testament to the wrath of the cosmos. And its message is very clear: If humanity is to defy the order of the cosmos again, then what will follow, is the apocalypse. The end of humanity.
