If I might.. As a suggestion. You might want to look at joining an alliance. As it would keep some of those flying monkeys away from your doorstep. If you are already in an alliance. You might want to consider a more robust one. One that would come to your aid in the case of being wardec’d yet again.. I am just suggesting this and not trying to tell you how to run your corp or what to do.
Hmm… Flying Monkeys sounds like a good name for a corp.. LOL
I know games are supposed to be a challenge, but not to the point of being stressful. I hope you are enjoying the game and not stressing. I love that quote by Abe Lincoln too!
Kane, I did not get a look at a clown car outside, in fact, didn’t see much at all. You probably didn’t even bother stream it. I do understand the desire to roleplay the man in the black hat, as long as you can still take the hat off after the game, you should never have a problem. I have been in other PvP games where the players become extremely toxic. They have either allowed the persona to envelope them or maybe they were just born that way.
@Alexander_Minto_Hughes my point was, people will say, if you name it FREEPORT in all caps the players will leave it alone, hence all are welcomed. However that is just players talking and this proves it. I thought for sure it would have been shot down by a non-English corp. Sort of like the story of the tiger and the violin. Don’t bother putting FREEPORT on your structures anywhere. It is pointless, I did that because other players bad advice. The next structure will be a freeport just not bothering to work it into the title.
Here is a list of advice ( from this thread ) with my thoughts on the matter;
Get an alliance - so I can pay an alliance protection, and when it gets shot down because it belonged to the “wrong” alliance, what do I have to show for it?
Build in a remote area - I placed this between 2 known schools for easy access to the mining gear I hand out. Remote is not a good fit for give-a-ways.
Operate from an NPC station - using an Astrahus makes it easy to locate, I like being able to store items in a personal space, and I was planning on inviting other corps with similar agendas ( aka carebears ) to have offices at zero fee, to store their items there as well. It didn’t get that far.
By the way, I will be active in the game - until the end of November - in Tsuguwa, if you need a ship, we just got a mess of Ventures handed to us at no cost. Send a game mail and I will either meet you at the “Storage” or drop it into a contract for immediate pick up. I am busy putting 2 Gas Scoops T1 in the cargo holds for new players ( 30 days ). Then I will return after the New Year to rebuild and continue the work.
Again my suggestion and that is all it is.. I rarely give advice. Is that in an Alliance you have some measure of protection. It cuts down on every corp coming to feed.
If you think going it alone is still the best idea. So be it. If you are a thousands plus strong, and you are not by your own admission, then yes you could fend off every other corp. My suggestion still stands as being a good one.
As long as I am handing out suggestions. You might want to consider forming another corp. and make this corp. a holding corporation. But again suggestions and not advice. I am trying to help you believe it or not.
Yes, thank you. That is exactly what I meant by the new corp cannot be under a declaration of war. I tossed everyone into a new corp, removing the war dec.. Next year, I will make a new solo corp to anchor the new astrahus. Otherwise it would be open season on miners with another war dec..
If you cant guarantee protection and that their stuff will be safe, they wont store their stuff there. They’ll likely use a npc station which is 100% safe
i killed a freeport because i was told by russian to get out of the region as he had taken control.. (i even one shotted the rapier who tried to hot drop me in the freeports defence.) same stupid player spent 3750 usd cash on the game before he was ripped off of 25b isk by some ls pirates who then killed him.
