AS i create custom skinss for my fleet ive noticed a few things….
1: The in space render is different from the “ paint shop” depiction
2: There are limited tools to SKIN with
3: the “studio, paragon hub, collection tabs could be refined
To #1 - It would be both eye catching, and also helpful to have a “space dock” where the ship sits in space to see the render… Also to have flood lights at the space dock to see every angle for sake of getting the design right… Example - the avalanche. currently the shadow effect in the studio makes seeing certain sections of the ship difficult when attempting to skin\
#2- Is there a future with the skinr GUI to include effects found in some of the more interesting CCP borne skins? Examplle : VitalShift Series. Some of my skin models might start creeping up in price but id love to make a very intricate design for for some ships. If something like Vital Shift could have a trigger that came with certian modul activations or other types of actions that would be great. Example: id love to takean Edencom electronic ship.. and put accents or the paint itself to shift color when shooting, as if the entire hull was electrifying when shooting. Theres plenty of other ideas in there… not sure if that has an adverse effect on game play, but i would assume that lesser computer systems could bypass the lag if there was a settings button to turn off this effect if it indeed causes an issue.
#3- it would be intereting to see if the paragon hub opened up huge to see a large variety of skins on 1 page Would also be interesting to see there was a drop down vertical rather than horizontal styled list view with collection cards and hub cards. Also, would be interesting to have a compare window when deciding on what to buy.
Unrelated considering the uniqueness of the SKINR platform - it would be great if I could access my owned SKINr mats from anywhere in order to utilize them and make the skins. If it is a question of bypassing the game mechanics, then my answer to that, is - make them globally for use so long as I house them at a trade hub or Paragon Station. within x amount of jumps etc. almost like how I can start working with owned BPOs and BPCs from X amount of jumps away based on skill.
Skins both CCP and SKINr derived are activate-able with no distance restrictions
