The changes to carriers in Catalyst was a positive step in the right direction, but it feels that the changes to Ship Maintenance Bays created an oddity around the usual trend that non-jump capable ships can transport more than their jump capable equivalents (the closest thing to the carrier here is the Bowhead).
Is it not time to boost the Bowhead to give it a SMB that is at least the same as the carrier to increase its usage outside of High Sec? Or are we thinking that the roughly billion isk difference between the cost of a Bowhead and a Carrier makes up for the difference?
For me, I’m scrapping my plans to build a bowhead and will just build a new carrier instead.
Wasn’t the SMB of the Carrier buffed to be the same as the Bowhead?
They both have 2M m3 now at max skills.
If you can use a Carrier instead of a Bowhead I don’t see why you would get a Bowhead to be honest.
Outside HS there is little reason to use a Bowhead anyway. I move my subcapital ships within my capital ships which have jump drives. A Bowhead would need Titan bridges or escort fleets to be moved in null, which is significantly less easy to get than a cyno at your destination.
The Bowhead’s reason to exist is to allow players to have this same large SMB within HS space, where capital ships like Carriers aren’t allowed to enter.
