Like many others, no more subs for all toons. Starting Sept. for the whole month, on every Saturday, will undock in Jita with a cargohold of plex. Feel free to pop.
It just aint worth it anymore.

According to certain CCP fanboiiis you should HTFUā¦
What say you to that?
PS: Welcome to the community!
You may want to hold off until the next updateā¦
āWorthā is a totally subjective thing. I think someone who was only engaging in one type of activity in Eve would likely find less āworthā than someone engaging in many types of activity.
Within the past 16 years that Iāve been playing this game, Iāve seen quite a few players do similar, most of them come back later and try to start fresh. However they usually just end up quitting for good due to not having the assets and skills they originally had before.
Donāt get rid of your assets or your character, just take a break and come back later. At various times Iāll take a break when needed. Basically when I take breaks, Iāll be out for a month or so, then play for a few months, then out for a few weeks, then back again, rinse, repeat, etcā¦
And I always keep my main character subbed and training Omega skills. That way whenever I decide to jump back into the game, my character is ready to do everything I was doing beforeā¦
Just as the ones cited below I too encourage you to rethink your approach to this situationā¦
Depends, some are like that, others just cite the intended mentality that is expected of players to survive the harsh environment deliberately made by CCP, at least that was the original vision of the game, it got eased up considerably since then.
In general not every game is for everyone and also changes will also not appeal to everyone either. I am a firm advocate of āvote with your walletā, so if someone feels a change to the game is something that ruined their enjoyment they 1) can and should voice this both on the forums and also by not paying anymore and 2) should find something they actually enjoy than forcing an unfun activity on themselves (at least until things improve in EVE).
Yeah changes happen all the time so maybe a positive one might come according to OPās preferences.
I would add that hold off with destroying / giving away all stuff for now but not with no longer paying as by cancelling the subs it affects CCPās bottom line, and if enough people do that it can lead to the change OP desires, while if they keep subbing (along with everyone else) it might ruin the chances of a desirable outcome for them thus might make it worthless to hold off in the first place.
Yes, diversifying gameplay and every now and then trying out new activities might help. Maybe even could find something to do as Alpha thus could cancel subs (to bring a message to CCP) while also keep playing and having fun even if switching playstyle (at least temporarily).
If anything you can spend some of your accumulated wealth and assets on trying new playstyles instead of just getting rid of them permanently.
Good advice, if this is the first time OP feels like taking a break then this might not feel like the case but indeed sometimes for various reasons one might need to stop playing the game and do something else and later feel like coming back so it is worth considering before burning all the bridges.
Minecraft is that way
No need to even switch themes, alternative exist:
I donāt even know how that stuff is still running lol.
Not only that, but I could put such wealth and assets to huge use. For example I need a bunch of Navy Augorors that ( I thinkā¦or rather hope ) can survive gate guns long enough to gank stuff ( specifically the anti-gankers ) . Navy Augoror has probably one of the best tanks of any cruiser. May be a complete expensive disasterā¦but will be fun trying, which is what Eve is all about.
I completely agree
I understand and thatās why EVE will always be a niche game, which makes any effort into NPE fruitless and a waste of dev time.
Not sure, maybe still not worthwhile for the amount of benefit it provides but I assume there is an amount of players that appreciate the harshness of EVE but still need some basic training to begin so still it can benefit them and help them stay with EVE and be successful.
Although it is true most probably a proper training corp / alliance could do all that and much more and in a better and more efficient way without dev time needed.
That said not sure if CCP would ever officially choose and endorse one or several in-game player entities (such as EVE Uni) for such purpose or if it would not lead to exploitation if they did. A difficult thing that has many ways of going badly or resulting in accusations of favoritism and so on.
Donāt get me wrong, I do like the tutorial and the career agents, they do help players start the game but the retention part is left to the playerās determination and/or corporations and in that sense the game shoots itself in the foot by asking players to accept non-stop constant loss while requiring real-life money for the privilege.
I donāt see that working out well, not in a game where scamming/stealing/lying/backstabbing is encouraged.
A few times Iāve sat in my original starter station at Bourynes. Thereās a nice āgoshā¦how far Iāve comeā type feeling. Whatās evident is how many corps are there recruiting noobs. Indeed, that is precisely how I myself was recruited into Absolute Order several years ago.
I think the NPE ( which was much shorter when I joined ) barely scratches the surface and people definitely do need to join a corp early on. Of course, everyone will have different views on what is a āgoodā corp.
Which is precisely why noobs need to join corps that offer SRP. That way the noob can mine, do battle, etc, etc without the constant worry of where the ISK to replace loss will come from. Whenever Iāve seen ganked miners storm off in a huff and leave theyāve invariably been solo minersā¦not even protected ( or for that matter enhanced ) by any fleet, let alone by SRP.
I was more talking about outright replacing NPE with a CCP endorsed player corp or a choice offered. As you wrote the NPE only covers so much, and understandably so as it can only cover so much before new players say this is too much āIām getting outta here if even just the starter tutorial takes this longā and also the āthis is long, boring, tedious, am cancelling the tutorial or quitting nowā kicks in.
A good training corp can teach better, faster, more efficient and tailored to the needs of the individual and their chosen playstyle, along with providing the social aspect that the āautomatedā tutorial lacks.
However if CCP picks sides which corp is endorsed or included in the selection (like instead of the NPE players are provided a list of training player corps to choose from) then there will be the accusation of favoritism, along with the problem of constantly having to monitor if those corps eventually turn to exploitation and drop in quality.
And we all remember alliances / corps like SiCO and such which just want exploitable slaves instead of teaching the new players properly and aiding them to realize their true potential so indeed not every training corp or recruiter in starter / career systems is a good choice.
So in the end maybe it is less trouble for CCP to not have to monitor these corps and to avoid taking sides and just let players hopefully find a good teaching corp.
I have an even better idea. Mentors. That would go hand in hand with noobs being able ( though not forced ) to stay in a noob focused training area for their first 30 days. Iād also allow the training area to simulate things that the noob might not necessarily have the SP skills or ships for yet.
Mentors, who would have to have at least 2 years experience in Eve, would receive some form of reward for mentoring noobs. I think thereād be a lot of people willing to give up some of their time to do this. It might even give some of the gnarled old bittervets a new lease on lifeā¦being useful in that area.
Show us on the doll where the nerf hit your meta.
Maybe this subject would deserve its own thread for a more focused and perhaps more detailed discussion that easier attract wider spread attention than here. Also it is kinda off topic here as well.
But yeah there are several solutions that can be considered, with their own pros and cons but probably all of them involve CCP having to monitor the teachers involved to some degree.
How lonf have you been playing Eve Online?
