Thanks for the update CCP. You probably have more data on the problem than I know but was wondering if there was a way to solicit info from players that might provide clues as to the attacks. For example, I am East Coast TZ and have not been able to log on for the last several days. Purely anecdotally, this problem seems to be impacting EastCoast TZ more heavily than West Coast US TZ players. I decided to go through a VPN yesterday and now and have had no problem connecting (I tried going through my local ISP connection first to no avail) and chat worked fine. I won’t say the VPN or server location here for fear of providing any help to the DDOS’ers. Perhaps a survey/poll of players might give you some data that could help. Just an idea and if it’s a crappy one then don’t flame me everyone : )

Local isn’t working and i keep getting a message saying: " Could not connect to chat server at live.chat.eveonline.com:5222.Please ensure that this port isn’t blocked.Retry? "

ETA for resolved this problem?

East Coast here, after hours of it not working. It let me log into the forum. I got to the character selection screen also.

Edit: instantly after this post it disconnected me from the game.

i cant even be mad right now this stuff is like comedy central right now

maybe someone should tell china then to attack those MMO´s and test how long they can last against a DDoS attack. and yes, thats the reddit rumor lately xD the chinese ppls got angry cause back then before they came over here to TQ had they their own server thing and botting (so readed i) was allowed there … but it isnt here on TQ … soooo~ many got banned and now they run ramapege? hey, these attacks arn’t your fault, now i can stop complaining about ur servers being bad and start complaining about the people who organized these attacks.

Hey there. Well, I am the one who is still here. I have connected to chats occasionally with interesting results. In Rookie Help there are people flooding with vile statements. In English Help there are doomsayers who claim they work for some servers and their servers are proof against such attacks and that it is all CCP’s Fault. I find such statements naive at best, and hostile at worst but certainly penned by idiots. The DDoS is sophisticated as it seems to be aimed at specific sockets and flooding the connections to those sockets . For my personal experience I am always denied a login but after the failed notice is acknowledged, I use the login at the bottom of the failure screen and I connect. The CCP logo appears when I first launch the launcher as it is verifying my hardware is of the “good” sort.

I think the doomsayers and the flooders in rookie help may have a connection with the DDoSers.

On my level, well, I am the one stillleft in my corp and I have about 18B worth of ships I cannot fly. The rest of the characters went to doomheim taking nearly 125M skill points with them, saying EVE wasn’t fun to play any longer and expressing displeasure over the blithering idiots blaming CCP.

With chat, I type in “…” in the windows and wait 7-10 minutes and suddenlt they are there. The accuracy of the user list may be questionable, but I have no one to compare to.

I suppose the question is whether I renew 01.06.2020 or not. I have set it to not for now. If I read of arrests for the criminals causing this disruption, I will consider renewing. I know it is difficult to remember that your objective is to drain the swamp when you are up to your eyeballs in alligators, but communicating more regularly would go a long way to convincing the remaining playerrs that CCP isn’t the bad guys (the owners of the servers, not so much).

Meanwhile the topic in chat, what is left of it, seems very ignorant and negative, or negative and deliberate. My ability to deal with those folk has been severely taxed.

VPNs do help but i have found that DC’s still happen if you are pinging certain places. but really i dont think we should have to pay for VPNs to be able to play.

Still having massive problems logging in. If I do manage to log any of my accounts in (which is extremely rare), I experience massive lag undocking and docking and also jumping gates. When I undock, by the time the game loads, my ship is usually about 14km - 20km away from the undock. When I jump gates, I get the same type of lag or my game just dc’s. Literally unplayable.

I live in New York, USA.

I would like to log in and play. I’d suggest the following:

Step 1: Iceland nationalizes CCP and declares EVE Online a strategic capability.
Step 2: Iceland invokes Article 5 (mutual defence) of the North Atlantic Treaty to defend said capability.
Step 3: The US, UK, and France drop a series of EMPs on the areas causing the issues.
Step 4: We all login and enjoy the rest of our day.

Too much?

Anywho: since last night (0200 EVE time or so) the launcher won’t connect, so I can’t get to the login prompt. I’m also blocked from the support webpage, so I can’t add the screenshots to my existing bug report.

Update (15:45 EVE time): the launcher now connects but I still can’t login through the game itself. The support webpage is still inaccessible.

Update (02:00 EVE time): finally logged in with both accounts. No chat in either. Massive lag, so I closed one down, but that didn’t help. Lost socket connection with the other account at 02:10. Logged back in shortly after. Support website is accessible. Lag means it’s unplayable. I give up for another night.

@CCP Dopamine
I get these log on behaviours, hopefully you can identify the process issue:

  • Initial/new log on from launcher (i.e. first of the day) - I receive a “cannot connect” message.

  • But if I click “connect” at bottom of the screen, it then retries and logs on fine.

  • A repeated log on request from the launcher goes through first time.
(i.e. log on within minutes of a previous attempt).

I am not suffering disconnects, my location is UK.

Regards.
