Triglavians and Invasions...Stops the Bots, but spoils the game!

Under your logic let’s force nullsec into highsec then. If you disagree, then you’ll understand why highsec is my home.

That’s fine, you have the right to make the choice to play with that self-imposed restriction. Nobody is forcing you to leave highsec. But that doesn’t mean that CCP has to change the rules of highsec so that you get to ignore the restrictions you imposed on yourself by choosing not to leave that space.

Evading the statement typical. It’s ok if nullsec gets a good gameplay, but not highsec. Nope we get a good gameplay.

Highsec has plenty of good game play.
And nearly all Null sec players do come play in highsec for certain tasks also.

Highsec gets good gameplay, if that’s what you want. For example, many players believe that the ban on highsec capitals provides better gameplay and are grateful for CCP keeping a capital-free area. On the other hand, many people would like more PvP in highsec and for CONCORD to be removed. So why should CCP redefine highsec to suit your demands but not give the same accommodations to other players?

I tried the Epithal fit with a hi-sec alpha - the 3 warp stabs do nothing and should be replaced with modules that help alignment or more tank.

I think some of the more experienced players here are forgetting that new players have low skill points / without ++ Evasive Maneuvering, Gallante industrial or spaceship command you have to select a warp out almost immediately to survive.

Both of the linked fits are shown for players with zero/almost zero skills, actually, so that is not a problem. The one I linked has 10 second align and 16k EHP against Triglavian disintegrator even with 0 skills (and a medium shield extender instead of large because of this), giving an ample time to warp away (the Triglavian scouts as a group certainly don’t do more than 500 DPS).

and yet my low skill alpha lost the ship… Did you test it?

I didn’t (since I don’t do PI), but I did escape from Triglavians in a Retriever with less EHP and slower align.

Based on what you said above I’m guessing you waited till they locked you and were firing to start warp right, from stationary?

I did what any new player would do - I see the red dots assume they wont attack and I continue to open the POCO, then panic to warp out when I realize that I am being shot.

Why did I assume that they won’t attack :-
In my role as a new player, I have already learned that red dots on an overview DO NOT attack … I have been taught this by CCP as the Lancers (more red dots) at gates don’t attack you.

ALSO: I am really confused as to why my cargo is covered with red dots but is not an enemy … if red dots are bad guys …why is my cargo going to attack me?

But every other red icon does.

This is a fair point.

What a mistake to make. Back to tutorials with you because you didn’t pay attention :stuck_out_tongue:.
Also, the Autothysian Lancers are the one exception to the rule that red dots will attack on sight. But you know that by now.
And some white dots will call powerful friends if you try funny business with them, and blue dots may not take kindly to you either, but we’ll let you discover all that by yourself. The best incentive to learn how to walk is to hate bleeding knees.
I used to love trigs more than I do today, they don’t drop as much loot as they used to…

But Sleeper red dot in the tutorial does attack.

I try not to respond negatively to newer players even when they’re making mistakes. However this post is just well over the top.

Basically you’re saying “I completely ignore all logic, everything the tutorial taught, everything in the Career Agents, everything I’ve ever heard about EVE or missioning or Triglavians, and I focus solely on the fact that there is one set of ‘red dots’, only occasionally seen, that don’t automatically attack me… and treat that exception as the one and only lesson CCP has taught me.”

This is either stupidity or willful ignorance of the highest degree, or simply an attempt to place blame for reacting foolishly to an obvious threat on CCP’s plate instead of your own. Also, trying to conflate a new feature of red dots in your cargo with “red dots mean it can’t be bad” is more of the same. And just FYI… the things on your screen aren’t dots. They’re other shapes.

Most of your other posts seem to be along the lines of “newish players are absolutely helpless against this threat, despite all the advice given here”, so I’m just chalking this line of reasoning up to the usual “I want CCP to fix all problems for me so I can play the game without engaging my brain” handholding nonsense.

I see what you mean, OP.

There’s literally no where you could go that is safe.

So clearly you have learnt from one loss and will now warp out as soon as you see them and from now on will be fine.
Not seeing the problem, you lost a T1 hauler and some ‘free’ PI, free in that it cost you no ongoing costs to make and your planet can just make more.

I think if you actually read the post I was replying to you would see that I was testing a fit given as an example of how avoid Trig-ganks and made a suggestion for improvement - I don’t think it’s unfair to assume new players will react slowly to threats or that they become confused if a system is in place the developers have failed to follow one of the cardinal rules of UI/UX design.

There there should be a consistency in how a game system works: -
Red Dots are a threat - except lancers - They are red dots but not a threat (has anyone ever had a lancer initiate an attack ?) - but white dots are not a threat - except pirates at a FOB - why are pirates at a FOB not red ? - they always attack you.

Example:
Is the following statement true - “If you right click on a used module you can repackage it for re-sale”

Consistency is generally useful in UIs, it is true. At this point you’ve headed into “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds” territory.

Lancers are absolutely a threat, in the same way that most wild animals are a threat: they may not attack you on sight, but threaten them and prepare to get your butt reamed.

For the rest of your points, basically they state you’re the kind of person that needs this level of handholding:

  • “Contains hot coffee. CAREFUL, IT’S HOT.”
  • “Place package in 400° oven for 40 minutes. Remove package from oven. WARNING: Package is HOT”
  • “Safety Railing. 1000 foot drop on other side. DO NOT CLIMB OVER RAILING.”

Once you reach that level of need, your best option is to do humanity a favor and win a Darwin Award before you breed.

I point out your inability to read the post I was responding to.

and noobs need hand-holding not confusing:

  • “Contains hot coffee. CAREFUL, IT’S HOT” = consistant.
  • "Contains ice tea, CAREFUL, IT’S HOT’’ = inconsistant.
  • “Contains hot coffee. CAREFUL, IT"S HOT or IT MAY BE ICED COFFEE, may or may not have sugar, could be decaffeinated or for that matter it could be TEA, may be HOT TEA, may be luke warm tea, may be ICED TEA, sometimes it may be COLA or milk.” = Poor user experience

AND finally LANCERS are not a threat, under no circumstances will a lancer initiate an attack … go on … make one attack you without attacking it first… try it out… test it… just like I did with the fit in the post I was responding to.
