The amount of people with no understanding of the matter, who I had to argue with about stuff like this, is beyond amusing. They donāt even understand that I, who they know knows more about it than they do, refuse to use any of that crap due to it not being useful. They still insist that itās better using AV software, because thereās evil adware that needs to be blocked.
For another guy I know it took āoptimizing softwareā to eventually render his cubase useless thanks to āoptimizingā performance by assigning it specific cores. Eventually he realized the mistake he made. Itās astonishing how easy even otherwise smart people can be fooled.
Welcome to Windows 10, folks. All you need is Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Firewall. Everything else is a scam. Hell, you didnāt need ā ā ā ā with Windows 7 either, but that timeās behind us.

Since Windows is a complete mess I agree that if you even run an email program you probably need the defender. But even defender is kinda opening up additional attack vectors.
The scan engines in those anti-virus programs are extremely complex and as everything they may be vulnerable to attack. And since they hook into every data stream itās actually pretty easy to attack them.
There have been multiple occasions where some of this snakeoil malware protection programs where actually used by malware to enter the system. This is not just theoretical. And still people even pay for that crap.

New updates for Windows Virus & Threat Protection have been deployed by Microsoft. The version this issue was occurring in was 1.313.1817.0
Iāve tested the reported file on definitions 1.313.1822.0 and 1.313.1831.0 on 2 separate machines. It is not flagged to me anymore.
Users should get the update automatically when Windows next checks. If youād like to update manually, then you can go to āWindows Security -> Virus & Threat Protection -> Check for updates (button)ā.
If anyone experiences further issues, please file a ticket with as much information as possible (including your definition version) and we will look into it.

Or just hit the Windows key, type āupdatesā and hit enter, which starts Windows Update. Windows 10 makes reaching system menus and features super easy.
