Trying to do exploration, but I have no idea where to go

Yes, various NPC groups are associated with various regions. Between J’Poll pointing you at Dotlan and the University article on Blood Raiders you should have found:

The Empire regions of Kador and Kor-Azor, as well as the Khanid Kingdom are each within a handful of jumps of Amarr (K-A is next door, The Kingdom is another three jumps from there, Kador is about three jumps the other way).

just now I killed a Sansha battleship and 2 Sansha battlecruisers and like 10 frigates and cruisers. what surprises me is that I did it in a brawling executioner and the loot was 5M! never know ratting in Low-Sec is soooo good!

thanks for all the guidance I got from you guys!

edit: Sansha got bad standing with me now

edit 2: oh no minmatar and gallente also have -0.3 and -0.12 standing with me

thanks

OP
have you tried to join a newbie friendly corp to teach you the basics?

joined EVE uni, awesome corp, just always on the wrong time zone and cant talk to them.

Normally Angels in minmatar space but you can get missions that give you all types

This is what I meant in that other topic. This is a new player dipping his toes into other aspects of the game then just making ISK safely… and discovering you can make ISK way faster if you are willing to take on a little risk doing the exact same thing you’d do in hisec.

One lowsec belt Battleship rat nets you about 500-800k. You could buy two executioner hulls for that ISK. It’s hard to catch a belt ratter that is paying attention to d-scan, so you might end up with a bunch of pristine spare ships.

Same goes for exploration. Why not mix it up a little, hole up somewhere, run the data/relic sites and run the belts while you stock up on Executioners (and the exploration frigates of your choice)?

Also, talk to the people that shoot you. Many lowsec corps would be happy to recruit a new player with the right mindset. They can teach you how to make ISK, but are mainly PVP focussed. Since players are your primary obstacle when making ISK, knowing how to PVP is a good way to prevent having to. Allthough it is more likely you’ll simply want to throw those Executioners in combat once you have a handfull.

hi guys, I need some help on exploration again, I got a few questions:

  1. is all sites that can be scanned down listed once you open your “probe scanner” window?

  2. so far all I know about wormholes is that some lead to low sec and some lead to w-space. how do I tell which wormholes lead to other systems and which lead to wormhole space? so far the description on wormholes I see are a bit confusing. I found 2 wormholes today, they are both called k162, and I didn’t find anything useful about it online.

  3. its not really a question, but I searched about 10 low sec systems and all I found is combat sites and wormholes, I am not sure whether its people before me finished all(the systems I went to have average of 0 pilots in space in past hour) the sites or they just don’t spawn. how do these sites spawn though? what is the spawn condition/rule?

it’s my third time going to a long exploration adventure, I have to say its a bit boring compare to ratting. however I hope when I do find a w-space wormhole it would be fun hacking those containers. also, thanks for reading this.

Hi Rick,

1 - yes. Unless you’ve marked the as Ignore.
2 - the name of the wormhole (e.g. K162) tells you something about it. They can be looked up at https://www.ellatha.com/eve/wormholelist.asp (yeah, K162 is “exit” - but doesn’t say “exit to where”)
3 - that happens. 10 systems is bad luck though.

You will also find the following useful:

@Random_Rick you’ve just been a bit unlucky I reckon.

Find a group of dead end systems in high sec. and go in when EVE is really quiet. You can easy make 1,500,000 isk. After a few days you got enough for a couple of frigates, to go exploring in null sec.

You right-click on the wormhole and it will tell you whether it leads to highsec, lowsec, nullsec, or unknown (j-space).

Am I right in thinking that if you are in a j-space system, there will always be 2 wormholes open?

One leading deeper into wormhole space, the other leading into lesser Wormhole space… eventually back into k space?

That has always been true in my experience, but I don’t think it is always, necessarily true.

That is not true for every wh, but quite common.
There’s many Wh systems with only one static connection. But because of the random connections, most times there are more than one connection.
If there’s only one connection available, the other connections are probably closed by purpose (“rolled”) by local inhabitants so they can do their business without much disturbance.

This page is quite helpful:

okay thanks! that chart is really useful. I will never be scared of being blown up by random NPCs in sites.

actually I already have 3-5 frigates I can lose, and enough ISK to buy more, guess I can go to NULL sec right away then.

btw according to those wiki I should go to wormholes that says “its unstable wormhole that leads to unknown”?

one more question about wormhole space: I’ve never been in one, is scanning down sites in w-space just like in k-space?

I strongly recommend that you find your wormhole entrances in lowsec. Wormholes that connect to highsec get a lot more traffic and are therefore more hazardous.

Scanning itself is the same.
But be aware you are in a dangerous environment and can be shot by other players while scanning, so you need to think about safety. This can be:

  • Safespot: Get away from easy to reach grids, like wh entry or sun. Just warp to any celestial and press CTRL+B within flight, then warp to that created bookmark.
  • Movement: Some foes will scan you down your position with combat probes. So if you burn away with a MWD from wherever you are, they cannot follow you cloaked.
  • DScan There’s nobody showing in local chat - so you have to find out by DScan if there are any other people (ships, probes) around. If yes, get outta there. Check frequently!
  • Cloak: This is much easier in a cloaked ship, so you cannot be scanned down. But you can be decloaked when still on grid, if you are closer than 2 km to any object or ship, you automatically decloak.

And remember: Always save the entry wh in your bookmarks, so you can return home quickly.
