Hi.
I normally play the game with a main overview and 1-2 detached overview for Booshers/Caps/others.
If I have my Dscan set to (1) Active Overview Settings, for some reason it always applies settings of my secondary overview window to D-scan, meaning all I can see is, say, Booshers or Caps. If I click my main overview, then Dscan works correctly with my main overview settings. I have missed ships on dscan several times because of this now. I need to click my main overview at least once every time I undock or change systems. I tried Locking/Unlocking windows, moving all the tabs to the secondary overview and swapping windows…but it keeps prioritizing the wrong one when it comes to dscan.
Am I missing some setting ? How do I tell the game which overview is my main one ?
Thanks
Odd Mine stays on my Main tab…
The dscan always switches to the secondary or tertiary (whatever you created last) overview window after a login. You have to specifically click on a TAB (not just the overview window or overview content area) of the overview you want to use for dscanning to make the dscan use this overview as filter.
I never have this problem, but I’m using special dscan filters instead of ‘active overview settings’.
Is it your intention to switch your active overview settings often and dynamically update your dscan with it?
Because if that is not your intention and you just want your dscan to use a single filter you can also select a specific filter for dscan. That’s what I do.
While your dscan won’t follow the settings of your main overview then, it also won’t accidentally switch to any other filter unless you tell it to.
As I was curious how ‘Active Overview Filters’ works with dscan, I played around a bit.
It turns out that the Active Overview Filter dynamically changes to the last active overview tab.
You can ‘activate’ a tab by switching to it or by changing the filter of that tab.
Just clicking it isn’t enough, but switching back and forth to another tab in that overview is.
It won’t distinguish between main and secondary overviews, all overview tabs can be used, which I think can be great if you have a bunch of specialized overview tabs to target for example only caps or booshers as it allows your dscan to dynamically adjust as well to more easily find them.
I find it a bit annoying though to have my dscan to update like that, so I prefer to simply use a specific dscan filter instead.
It’s more reliable.
Yes, exactly that…I have some static overview tabs, but my main one is quite dynamic - I may add and remove planets/belts/other stuff as and when required (mostly hunting purposes). I would otherwise be happy with presetting the dscan settings to a specific profile.
The issue with that is that I can’t seem to change the order of dscan profiles so I could use Hotkeys (1-2-3-etx) to switch between them..and when using several accounts that becomes problematic.
It would be great to have a setting for ‘Main active overview unless something else is clicked’.
