Yeah. He’s a real nice guy. I’ll quit on this line of discussion for OP’s sanity.
Dumb gotcha mechanic. If locking a drifter gets you killed in high sec then concord should destroy anybody locking another target in high sec. Locking a target should either be an aggressive action or not. It should not mean different things for different targets. Inconsistency is bad game design, end of.
At this point you kinda just have to suck it up, buttercup.
It’s a hostile red mysterious Lore NPC.. What’s with this drunk logic people. Oh I see. Null entities who can’t survive solo ranting about Highsec.
Are you calling OP Inexperienced pilots
?
Yeah. He has a habit of dying from Gankers and NPC’s
Bringing up a player’s losses is the equivalent of reaching for that low hanging fruit.
We have our own losses but instead of adapting in-order to survive. I see a lot of “CCP please change the mechanics, it hurts me…”
I believe many of the suggestions were simply to “tone it down” a bit - at least in high-sec. I’m not saying there couldn’t be a response - or even a Doomsday - but it should probably hit less than a Mac truck (since very, very few ships would be able to tank it).
If we’re going to continue to have PvE in EVE - can we at least make it somewhat meaningful? Right now it’s either “wash, rinse and repeat” or “extreme beyond comprehension”.
We just had a Drifter event where players were encouraged to go out and shoot them. Kind of a catch-22, no?
It’s also a game and in games consistency of mechanics matters more than anything else. Don’t bother trying to argue, I’m not interested.
quiet frankly, if the answer is to avoid it, the only way to avoid this situation was to not undock as it was on a station. That’s a bad gameplay loop.
you can tank cruiser drifter DD but not the battleship one, that require a dread ( unless you want your marauder to be 3 times more expensive then a dread )
There are lots of things in EVE you want to avoid if you’re unprepared and have a yolo attitude.
Nobody is ever going to think a drifter BS is going to kill them in a marauder in high sec until it happens, so nobody is ever going to look for that information. It’s ridiculous to expect players to be prepared for that situation unless they just happen to randomly here about it somewhere. Stop pretending it’s an obvious thing which the player should have known about beforehand when it is not. It’s pure stupidity on your part.
The ignorance comes from thinking one’s marauder is that strong. Players forget that space is dangerous. Players are not the only threat. It’s up to us, the players, to remind other players of these facts.
ah yes, they do when they see the initialy 1.500 damage from their guns and realize that they should notyolo because “bigger is better”
you have at your fingertips over 20 years of player creating information; there is even a website for all of this; people even create corp just for some of the high end pve. ( like incursion and drifter diving )
your refusal to ask for information is on you or do you prefer a big screen warning stopping you evrytime you do something new ?
You have no argument whatsoever.
Nobody is going to ask for information if there is no reason to ask for it. Anyone with a brain can understand that apart from you for some reason. I suspect you do understand but you are just arguing for the sake or arguing.
No player on earth is going to ask if locking a drifter BS will kill them when they can lock any other target in hi sec without issue.
If I run into something completely new or I don’t understand I’ll google it, ESPECIALLY if it’s some sort of NPC that seems scary. The information is just a 10 second google search away.
Choices have consequences, choosing to do things you don’t understand has the possible side effect of nasty surprises. Who knew.
