Unfair-ness of XL torps/cruises vs other capital weapons?

I tried to show you a different perspective on the matter. Missiles and Turrets are two different Skill progression trees. There is no need for them to work in the same way. You have different options and it’s your responsiblity to figure out what works best for you.

The basic idea is that skill progression gets harder the further you go towards perfect skills or powerful ships. It may not be perfect, but it’s good enough. CCP will not reimburse SP to hundreds of thousands of players because one thinks he would like to train missiles faster.

Using your logic everyone could come around the corner and ask for faster skill progression for their favorite skills, faster route from A to B, cheaper skillbooks and so on. It’s not going to happen.

If you think that Capital Missiles are too weak, then say so and let’s argue about that instead.

To me torpedoes in general and across the board seem to bean unnecessary weapon system. You have Rapid missle launchers + cruise missles + torpedoes. Really the only good use is some stealth bomber fits. Both Rapid missles and Cruise missles far outperform torpedoes vs small targets when fitted for precision, as well as outperform on range and actual applied DPS. Exception being point blank large+ targets, and stealth bombers could have just used cruise launchers instead with a unique ammo.

In fact, I think whole torpedo line of weapons, if it is necessary, could have been far better and much more optimal if it was just cruise launchers + special ammo instead of a seperate weapon platform.

Yeah. Damage-application, range and missile speed on torps are…well…■■■■.
Bombers are pretty much the only ships on which they are useful. Because they are cheap an are easily able to get in range. But on a BS… or heck, even on a dread or titan…
And the cycletime and the reloadtime on a Leviathan… Rapid cruiselauncher would be way more useful.
