The changes to unidentified wormholes have been a disaster for PvP content.
As an FC, I used to spent 10-20 minutes getting a route via unidentified wormholes. With the new system it’s well over an hour.
Result: I’m not going to run any fleets anymore because one hour preparation is too much considering alliance strategic fleets could be pinged and I’ve wasted that hour.
I’m not alone. The drop off in gangs roams my home area is very noticeable, meaning less PvP content for everyone.
It’s the same old story. A change has been made to allow big alliances to build wealth more quickly because their space is more secure. What is the point of a multiplayer online game if you constantly take measures to limit their interactions?
The wormhole beacon used to appear on your overview when you entered a system. Now you have to scan them down like other wormholes.
There are five different wormholes, all named.
Instead of spending hours scanning you could send a scout through the target region to see which ones where there. Then you would take a matching one in your home space. Vice versa for getting home.
This would take 10-20 minutes.
Now you have to basically sit in one of the wormholes and spent an hour plus scanning the signatures inside. It’s a total time sink for a wormhole that is only really useful for small fleet anyway because of it’s small mass.
What about ‘classic roaming’? Every one takes a reasonable fast ship, like Cruiser/HACs, and then just move into your neighbors area or through the next best wormhole into another region and poke around? Thera is always usable to get a gang around too… If you offer a fightable gang, someone will surely respond?
I mean, not having everyone and his dog on blue in 20jumps distance or having a reputation of not cynodropping in every second fight obviously helps…
There is zero advantage to roaming, in the end your fleet meets death by standing fleet.
Quick in and outs do work, strikes from wormholes, these are exactly the game type experiences we should be trying to keep, navigating the uni wormholes took a lot of work and commitment, items should not just be simply changed at will without understanding the effect to game play, a chance to vote and raise concerns would have been a better approach.
