Listing and order change fees are causing market to have too small orders and people have started to figure out this leads to regular price spikes so now they are putting up orders at 100% higher prices or just wait until the price spike comes before they put anything for sale. Anyone think this is an issue?
cApItAlIsM! H0w DoEs It WoRk?
Its not capitalism when you have to pay a tax before you have sold anything
It’s not tax. It’s the Broker’s Fee.
There has to be some ISK sinks in the game and that’s one of them.
Any market that puts a fee on transactions before they have happened is going to have a bad time
Ever bought shares on the stockmarket?
You pay a broker fee there, although it’s usually at the same time as you buy or sell.
In any event, traders have noticed this regular spike in certain markets and they’re responding like any good capitalist: they’re taking advantage of it to try and increase their margins and profits.
Like many aspects of EVE, you can avoid this “problem” with a little patience and thought.
Charging broker fees before anything has been sold is causing shortages among other things
No. Next question.
Did you even think about it?
Yeah I did & the answer is still no, I don’t see an issue. The reason being I’m one of the profiteers off the spikes so it’s all good business for me.
You agree listing and price change fees are causing shortages? But dont think its a bad thing?
Broker fees should not be charged unless a transaction took place
No-one is disputing that
I never stated there should be no broker fees
Strange. Even my supermarket around the corner has to pay for a lot of things before the first item is sold or bought. Since it’s a “physical” business, these things being rent, electricity, employees and whatnot. And because you save all those things when using a “broker” that manages the transactions for you in a digital market, you have to pay this one. And yes, he wants to eat and feed his children (think of the children!) even if you don’t sell anything, so he gets the cash when he works for you by placing the order and assigning the next willing customer to your item, not when the item is sold. Because if you ask too high or bid to low, you may not sell anything. You don’t want his children to starve, do you?
Thanks for your comment
You can reduce the sales tax by training the Accounting skill. It makes quite a difference when selling PLEX.
Ohh thank you for the tip!
I did!
Unlike sales tax the brokers fee is charged before you have sold anything, and also if you want to change the price both of which contributes to price instability among other things.
