Upcoming Changes to Drone Aggression

Tedious gameplay now even more tedious. CCP pls learn to detect bots some other way.

I usually pvp just because it’s not worth ratting, not that i don’t enjoy it.
And it’s not worth because johny imperator rats with his 30 afk gilas with impunity.

If johnny unsubscribes 29 of his gilas, it might be worth for me to pick up ratting once in a while, maybe even mining, which is not a bad thing.

I think too many people look at the players who AFK rat and mine as losers who do it while watching tv, but in many cases, it is those of us who do it while we PVP. I use the same isk I am making to buy ships that I then die with to create content. Is this what CCP is fighting against? Am I going to need to stop PVP for 80% of my time in-game to actively PvE? Something that I am not interested in.

funny change, wonder what the point is.

bots will just add the extra lines of code to target npcs and send drones. so no change and it makes it more comlpicated and only adds more tedium for the real people players.

What about those lvl4s you get that consistently jam you out and you can’t target anything?

silly guys, you can do better than this.

So while I will not personally feel too strongly about this change one way or the other as it will probably affect botters more than it will affect myself and other people who randomly rat now and then where does this end?

Seriously, what is next? Will mining lasers and mining drones not autorepeat when all the botters turn to mining as an alternative source of income generation? And then what’s next after that? I think it’s worth some deeper thoughts about how you want the game to look and where you want to invest the time to deal with the issues.

If you enjoy active PvE and want to make more doing it, why aren’t you doing abyssals, deadspace content, or officer hunting?

bots already have it, they are doing carriers.

Bots are the better customers perhaps…

Can you please fix the web drones idle issue? I have to press F a million times to keep a web drone persistently chasing a target. I doubt this is an intentional feature as the combat drones definitely do not suffer from the same problem!

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of AFK VNIs suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced

Maybe this change is so they have more ways to catch bots? I don’t know, seems like a really tame excuse they have used for this update.

Bots don’t even use auto targeting drones. Their scripts run Supercarrires with fighters which are already manual only. The only ppl this will affect is real people who have a myrmidon or dominix ratting on a second and third account while they fly pvp fleets.

y u toxic?

Perhaps you should be asking the question about yourself. Why do you see it as “toxic” when someone posts a polite statement of agreement? Are you so attached to your AFK farming that anyone who threatens it is automatically “toxic”?

According to your logic, utter nonsense here is an avid botting supporter, because that change once again does literally nothing to bots while nerfing mostly multiboxers.

I’d say anyone supporting bots is worse than toxic.

ccp only pretends that it fights bots, if they really want to harm bots, they would eliminate the possibility of playing on multiple accounts simultaneously :frowning:

I have always considered the removal of Aggressive setting to be a good thing for numerous reasons regarding altering player behavior (nothing to do with botting), keeping in mind that a default hotkey (F) already exists to engage drones on the selected target; however, I agree that it might have been better to hold off on neutering the Aggressive setting until better PVE opportunities were made available that were worth actively engaging. (The partial-neutering of the aggressive setting is a positive step toward, and might possibly be better than, outright removal in my opinion.)

Right now PVE is broken down into low end and high end, where low end is considered boring for most (not all) players, yield little rewards, and the AI are dumb as bricks (not very immersive, little incentive to play actively), and the high end PVE might be considered too risky or require too high SP/ship investment to be accessible to some players (per their own opinion). If more mid-range PVE opportunities were made available which are more immersive but not as risky or inaccessible SP/ISK-wise, then players might NOT WANT to passive droneboat to begin with. (Nothing wrong with active droneboat gameplay!) The rewards wouldn’t scale as high as the high-end PVE but at least the desire to passive droneboat would be eliminated. Low/mid tiers of abyssal space have a “guaranteed death” mechanic if there is an accidental disconnect or if players urgently need to leave but can’t park/safely logout (or simply want to retreat)- many players won’t consider engaging in this activity because of this mechanic.

Anyway, let’s lighten the mood and have a little fun…

POLL: Of the given choices, which of the following is the best reason to press ‘F’?

  • Press F to pay respecc
  • F is the default hotkey for “Drones - Engage”, a quick & easy way to engage targets such as rats and structures/POSes
  • F is the first letter in “■■■■ YOU CCP”

Just remove drones.

Fortunately I am not supporting bots. In fact, I’ve made it very clear that I hate bots and bot users and want them all banned from EVE. But botting is not the only problem with EVE, and supporting a change (such as this one) that addresses other problems is not an endorsement of botting.
