Botters don’t care about how many keypresses they have to make, humans will have a massive ammount of trouble staying awake long enough to earn any isk.
Good, then we can systematically work to remove low effort and low attention gameplay from the game.
It’s not.
My position on this is that CCP literally does not know how to do this (you can scroll up in this thread and see me state this exact argument earlier). And I would also argue that no one here knows either.
I stopped reading here, this is a video game.
Then why don’t you take the 5 seconds and propose to CCP an idea for actually “fun pve (which works) rather than trying to nerf their way to a healthy economy”?
Because you want the counter to be “ignore the ewar because the game plays itself for you and the drones already took care of it” instead of “get your ship into lock range despite the damps/kill the ECM ships/etc” like gun and missile users have to do.
it’s going to screw totally innocent players who are at the keyboard, paying attention, and simply got ewar’d by rats.
Plenty of gun and missile users will tell you that ewar is not an instant death sentence and it is possible to overcome it without having the game play itself for you.
Fof missles require 1 button push every 5 minutes. Smartbombs don’t even require that much.
And if CCP is smart those will also be dealt with (assuming it’s possible to make viable farming setups with them).
I will, but 13 years of EVE forums proves that it won’t matter. Hell, REALITY (and the consequences of the changes that happen) don’t matter to some of these people.
It’s like when CCP announced Dominion Sov system and people were all lik e"yea, take that goons", and goons were like “this is going to make us stronger , you idiots”.
But people couldn’t see it coming. So Dominion Sov happened, Goons became THE leading alliance in EVE with it’s help, and the people who just knew it was going to hurt goons mostly ended up renting from people like Goons lol.
People are dumb.
haha im not that old in eve (about a year and a half) so i don’t know fully what your talking about but yes half the changes that cpp do look one way but in turn dose something different then what they said and then every1 gets mad
This proves you don’t PVE. How well does that work when its guristas FRIGATES in a lvl 4 mission? Good luck with those guns.
Good luck kitting that leshak hellspawn outside of lock range with those guns and missiles (because the guns and missiles that have that kind of range have lower dps than the blasters/autocannons/HAMs that let you finish the abyss site in under 20 minutes).
Some of you are being short sighted, hatred does that. CCP could be doing much better things than a blanket nerf that screws over so many (non-null) drone use cases.
I’ve run plenty of level 4 missions against Guristas with pure gun ships. Perhaps you should stop being bad at EVE?
yes in few words cpp is taking the lazy way out of this, and not looking at the core problem.
and on the subject of ecm… all you pvpers out there know ecm is about as good at a wood stick when it comes to fighting, how ever ecm in pve… the rats dodged that ecm nerf
That’s not how using alts works. You skill your alt in whatever you need then put some +5s in and extract the skills trained. This does not need to be the same char that’s ratting so there is no risk. Free account, no subscription and each extra account you have makes it quicker to set up the next one. You can also use the account for manufacturing, pi, reactions, etc.
@CCP_Paradox
Maybe it has been asked already (not going through 1088 posts), but how will this affect npc aggression versus drones e.g., during missions or other npc encounters. Will drones still engage when they themselves are attacked or are they just sitting ducks waiting for the F-key. Will drones still move on to the next target automatically once they have been engaged manually and killed their first target, or will they go inactive every single time between targets ?
You do understand the QA load right?
The world ark site is only 1 site for QA to test. Simply to redo highsec anoms is how many sites? Let alone all the others.
And a solution to that has already been proposed by a CSM member in this thread who is taking that idea to CCP to get them to investigate it. Might nothing come of it for whatever reason, obviously. But there is low attention drone play in ALL areas of space. So… it has to go. And has had to go for years & years.
This, according to the post. Aggressive setting will be removed in regards to NPC.
When you make changes always try and make a change that gives something to the players rather than take something away. The goal here is to make NPC killing activities more engaging? That’s fine, and the vast majority of players would want that.
However, removing drone aggression doesn’t really make the content more engaging. This will make stuff harder in places where you have to pay a lot of attention like in the abyss. NPC’s in high, low, and null are unfortunately still very “stupid” and the content won’t feel more engaging with this change.
What you are basically doing here is forcing players to sit and engage in an activity that is already seen as boring. That’s why this change feels like a punishment to most players and that’s why people are mad.
A much better chance that all people would celebrate would have been to make the NPC’s harder/fun (like in the abyss). This of course, also means widening their payout range so that players who are really good pilots and pay attention to one account will be the ones who make the biggest reward. Much like a Tier 6 abyss. Nobody is multi-boxing 5 Gilas in a Tier 6 abyss because it’s impossible to spread your attention that much.
What would be FUN for NPC killing in high, low, and null would be:
- Smarter NPC’s that use a wider range of e-war
- NPC’s changing their fits (from site to site) so that you have to pay attention to what is hitting you
- Gates that can only be accessed with 2-3-4-5 players (much like in the abyss) making content more engaging for groups
- Ship class limits to those gates (much like the abyss)
- Wider range of payouts for ratting. Meaning, players who are really good pilots, pay the most attention are the ones who get the biggest reward (like in a T6 abyss)
i agree on 4 of your 5 points yes npcs useing a wider range is an awesome idea, changing fits? won’t fully know how that would work but sounds cool, player numbers being gated i love it, (this is the one i have a problem with while in some ways it would be nice when im roaming high-sec in my tengu and i find scan down a DED 3 or 4 i don’t want to be gated out just because “im in a powerful ship” to me thats saying “oh sorry your to overpowered foe this site” (now i know the poeple are going to say “oh stop complaining and get good”) but its like i spend the isk on ship to just be gated out of sites even in low-sec i sometimes get gated and it just feals like a punishment for have a good / powerful ship. and for your last point that is a great idea but how would you go about doing that? like killing npcs in a order or killing those marked as say “Gistior Haunter” first and having there bounty go up? like a sort of skilling spree (but for isk) in each site. tbh that could be really cool
So what do you think people who dont use drone boats use?
You are ruining your own creation. There are so many things you should fix but this isn’t one of them.
“beat the dead ship” and “if its not broke change it” they have that hung over there fount door
so instead of updating the rat mechanics, you nerf the players?
You could easily update the sites to have smaller groups with burner-like ships to make it more engaging and fun.
This is a horrible idea CCP…
And I don’t even rat with drones… (oracles wtf)
If it doesnt affect you, whats the problem?
The only thing this changes is whether income can be created passively in space.
This is a change that can be done overnight and make a difference and meet a goal CCP have set. Rewriting the PvE to be fun is not the objective and would take a lot longer.
This shouldnt even affect anyone using drone boats who were fighting the most efficent way, or were not fighting purely to profit.
It only affects those who park up, launch drones, and go do something else.
Thats not playing.
If you think its playing, do you think mining drones should also auto-mine?
Edit: Removed “more” from “rewriting PvE to be more fun”.
its not so much about the drones we will work around this its more about ccps answer to the problem not so much the nerf itself. the “answer” to the problem dose not really “solve” the problem at hand what ever the “real” problem is as if its trying to “fix” botting then it dose not work. A bot will have no problem locking a target and hitting “F”
