Upcoming Changes to Drone Aggression

I actively play when I’m on, and I’m very bothered by this change

Why ?

As stated above already, this is a big reason :
However, it will really screw with people who play drone boats or use drones as supplementary damage in missions and anomalies the most since there are a lot of NPCs that jam/dampen you and now your drones will just sit there or, worse, fly back to your ship and orbit making you have to send them out again. It’s just another annoyance and more tedious micromanagement just because.

?

If it’s just supplemental damage, then you’re not really being screwed are you? It’s not your main source of DPS.

No? They’ll keep aggressing the thing they were already attacking. If they’re not currently engaging a target actively, they’ll aggress whatever next target you attack with other weapons.

So even if you’re jammed, since you can still lock and shoot the NPC that is jamming you, the drones will reassign their aggression as soon as you, for example, cycle guns or fire missiles at the target.

Have you never played in a rattlesnake? Dominic? Never been out of range when jammed? SFT you’re useless

Faster than a moving goalpost, I hear

…your point being?
If you’re actively krabbing with any of these ships, the change has zero impact to you. Your drones will continue to aggress anything you cycle weapons on.

Then maybe you shouldn’t warp into the site at 100km, or adjust your fit? Iono, stop being lazy?

I use RHML, no long range warps for me. My fit is just fine. This drone change is just fking stupid and you can’t accept that

Kid cries salty tears over a change that has near zero impact to his gameplay.
Never change, official eve forums.

Zero impact? Go back to Fox News I guess for you

hurr durr its unhealthy to the people who want to play the game.
The one cloaking in a NullSec System is doing an task in disrupting the isk generation of the ones wanting to rat there. And he would do that while being afk. That directly contradicts the new anti-afk policy we see here.
If he wants to disrupt the generation of ISK while being cloaked in the system he should have to do something that requiers his active attention to the game AND should allow counter play in some way to the ones being in that system wanting to rat.

Well said. and good goal set (be at keyboard).

There are better ways, how to check whenever player is present and paying attention to the game that modification of weapon system used by AFK ppl.

Problem is generally in static content, that require you to press just F1. Problem is not in FOF or drone autoagro. Problem is that there is so simple content, that doesnt require your interaction.

Did you ever went bell ratting for fun ?

CCP’s team that design Abyssal stuff did a great job. It show way how to provide variable fun, that is hard to exploit. When old abyssal meta was solved, new NPC’s were introduced and it is great refresh. And no weapon system had to be modified. Compare Abyss to ordinary mission agents, I’m wondering why do we still have those 15+years old missions that didnt go trough any significant overhaul.
If we have problem with lvl4 missions or belt rats being AFK farmed (or botted), it would make sense to touch that content rather that Weapons that those people use to exploit weakness of that content.

Why not both?

Then good news for those people.
If they actively play the game, then this change has no impact on them.

There is no anti-afk policy.
There is an anti-low attention gameplay change.
Learn the difference.

I don’t care, go cry in the AFK Cloaky thread, not here.

No, an AFK cloaker isn’t doing anything.
The ratters are deciding from fear to not do something.
An AFK drone ratter however, is making isk DIRECTLY.
See the crucial difference here…

The only good reason I can think of in this particular case, having not read any of this thread because I’m lazy and unaffected, is because it is inconsistent. The drone weapons system will behave differently depending on whether you’re aggressed by a PC or NPC and this is going to be another thing you just have to know, unless CCP adds it to the NPE, which would still leave one more inexplicable quirk for a newbie to memorize.

I do think the change is good for the sake of game balance. I don’t like the idea of free money, either ratting or mining, but I still recognize this for the kludge that it is. It addresses a problem with all expedience and no grace. I don’t mean that as an insult. Sometimes you need a kludge until a more elegant solution can be implemented. It shouldn’t be relied upon indefinitely, however.

They don’t WANT to see the difference because it doesn’t suit them. They know this, they just won’t admit to it.

This will combat bots, but indirectly. CCP can ban accounts for botting, banning accounts for exploiting rules is another thing. If bots become easier to detect and prove, the easier to ban them.

This game has serious problems, i read the first few hundred posts and jumped to near the bottom. I don’t think this solution lacks grace, in fact i think it is a good one.

Many of the posts talk about this change promoting botting; botting is not a play style, it is cheating and those players need to be removed anyway, so let them quit.

One thing i haven’t really noticed anyone talk about, is Alpha abuse, even without bots, one person can control several accounts to farm minerals and ISK, with minimal interaction with the game. This simple change goes a long way to solving that problem.

I also spam V even in highsec… I don’t want to be humiliated for not being attentive.
