Upcoming FOB changes and L4 missions

There are a very few groups doing them on a regular basis. Had a group move through my neck of the current woods and took out 4 in under an hour before moving on. Niche appeal, but happy they wanted to do them. However, I don’t see anyone reasonable asking for any expansion of them.

As long as they can’t follow me in Abyss sites sure let Fob spam exterminate highsec

They should stay in the .8 systems and below. No reason for a FOB to show up in a .9 or 1.0 system. It makes no sense that they do now.

This proves how broken these things are.

Do you even know how to killboard?

How so? If anything it proves that people do them and often.

It was supposed to mimic the act of a structure bash. There is a problem with the multiplier that if you show up with vindi/nesters or a small group of pilots the damage is and the spawn rate is worse then if you show up alone. The fact that these things are being solo’d in command ships now and speed tanked VNIs show that the AI is broken and doesn’t actually mimic an actual structure bash at all.
Besides that these guys spawn in .9s and 1.0s. It shouldn’t do that either.

the reason why not alot of people do them is theres not a lot of isk in it if you solo it, ive also heard that the end rewards scale with the fleet. so running it solo is the same as running it with a 20 man fleet when the loot is divided up.

also some people have just come through my region and cleared the 20+ sites that were scattered around.

I also find these sites a great deterrent against afk/bot mining as they get wiped out. i just jump over a system when 1 spawns in my current mining area.

Thing is, with very few exceptions, people do them because they have to due to the annoyance factor, not because they want to or because its fun. That is the key here. Take away the annoyance to the point where they finally take em out of spite, and you’re left with them being about as good content as Resource Wars, quite literally. I mean, people still do resource wars too but …

Onto original topic, I still haven’t seen anything official by CCP with regards to any upcoming changes. Not here, not on Reddit, not anywhere.

The reward scales a little bit (up to 5 I think) but the loot does not.
I think (don’t trust me on this one) that with three toons you can hit the DPS cap, and still maximize the isk/h while reducing the danger of rats. You can hit the DPS cap with 2 toons but then you have weaker fits, and lower rewards.

Those data of mine are at least 2 month old, maybe things changed.

source or GTFO.

What scales is the amount of rats that spawn. the larger the fleet the more dps you have to hold against. the damage cap is the same 5k a second as the smaller structure bashes and it takes 15 minutes a site at the cap limit. but with a fleet of vindi/nesters the dps is insane.
So people just speed tank an VNI and set the ogres out and orbit at an insane range and when the light tackles warp to you the speed is so great on the VNI they land behind you and have constantly warp back to you. so they just do that until you blow the structure. then come back ten minutes or so later and the rats despawn and you grab the loot. I’ve done them both ways. VNI way is easier and way cheaper.

Its broken.

And for those that like the .9 and 1.0s because it destroys afk miners the isk in the belts of these systems are terrible. There is no way these people make enough isk per night in these systems to worry about them. If you move into even a .8 the rocks are a lot bigger and the rats are frigates. Go to a .5 - .7 and get some ice and the rocks in those systems are a lot larger and again the rats are frigates. If you don’t afk mine move to these systems and make tons more money for your time.

FOB rats are too dangerous for .9s and 1.0s.

I was talking about how the reward scales or not.

with 700 DPS a VNI takes much more time than 3 ships bashing the structure (exactly 7.1 times less). And you get more reward per toon, so the isk/h/toon is much better.

Yes, but you will not sit with three ships bashing this structure. If you have a bashing structure fleet you’ll need nesters able to hold the dps the the extra rats give off. So now your fleet is up to 6 ships and probably at least 5 billion in value on grid. So VNIs are the way to go when they can be fit for something like 200k on the top end to do this. Really just an overclock mwd with cap injector and ogre2s. Once you set the o2s you can leave your drone range and they will just continue attacking the structure.

yes, I participated in 3-man fleets and the DPS/neutra was easily manageable.

All of the most recent deaths of these things have been to the hands of fleets. Mixed between nestors and the triglavian w/e and nestors and vindi’s. Seen one with 1 rattler and 2 marauders but that’s far from a VNI. Going back 10 days I couldn’t find 1 with a single VNI solo’ing the FOB. I wish there was solo’able aspects of FOB funsies I would par-take…

Here’s the fit too. knock yourself out.

… probably Frentix or Mindflood.

According to the EVE University wiki: Forward Operating Base, solo runs of the FOBs are now doable following the February 2018 game update but the ship options are still limited and the fleet limit w/o losing Player/ISK is roughly the same number of players that are needed to run Headquarter Sites (Incursions: TPPH, TCRC, and NRF; I think those are the HQ sites).

If the FOB is Guristas (found in Gurista and Serpentis space), then you need 94% Thermal resistances, otherwise you need 92% for both EM and Thermal resistances when facing Blood Raiders (found in Minmatar and Amarr Space)

And if you don’t want to use a VNI, a Rattlesnake is viable (I only did one to see if I could)

Fit I got from these forums, somewhere.
